Is this bothering anyone else?
First, I trust Emery will get us a great HC. And honestly, I am less biased that I have been in the past. I normally have someone that I would like to see as HC. I really don't this time. There are several good candidates and whoever Emery picks, I'll get behind.
Having said that, what is bothering me is the Jay Cutler slant. I understand that you want a HC that can work with your QB, but it is almost like anyone that ever tied Jay's shoe is on the list whether he be in the CFL, NFL, or JFL (JayfootballLeague).
I would think the first thing is to find the very best HC and that the team be built around his philosophies because I assume those philosophies have made him successful. I've never seen anything catering to a QB like this before. I am a bif Jay backer and certainly a great HC and someone that can work with Jay are not mutually exclusive -- probably the opposite.
Just strikes me as a little weird.

McCarthy was criticized as a Brett Favre guy that was only gonna let him do what the hell he wanted to. Favre's input went a good way towards making the right decision.

I don't know if I have an opinion one way or another on the matter, houston. In fact, I'm of the mind that maybe it's a good thing to get someone to come in at some position who can work well with Cutler. Dennison has worked with Cutler and also with Matt Schaub, so it isn't as if he doesn't know what he's doing in terms of creating ways for the quarterback position to be highly successful in Chicago. Marc Trestman also has experience working with Cutler, but he's getting some age on him; he's like 56 or something like that, and I think the Bears need to focus on someone who is maybe in their 40s and has an impressive resume and profile. Dennison, now that I think about it, is 54, and that may be older than what Emery wants to deal with. In my mind, the Bears need to go after the youngest of the available solid offensive coordinators so he has more of an opportunity to stay for a longer period of time in Chicago provided he wins consistently enough.

I would be bothered if the primary consideration is working w/or having a good relationship previously w/Cutler. But if that is just one of the lower traits no biggie. McCoy really didn't have that much exposure to Cutler, Marc Trestman worked w/him to get ready for his pro day(not exactly a 1yr long or multi year thing), Dennison same thing, hardly a long relationship.
What I want more is a guy that has proven adaptable, and has shown an ability to develop qb's. I also could care less about age, most coaches last, at most, 10 years, so being in your 50's is hardly going keep you out of the running.

I prefer a guy who is in his mid-to-late 40s so that there are no questions on his health and durability. If he is any good, he would then be able to last longer than 10 years.

B/c guys in there mid 60's have problems w/health and durability? What is this the 1800's? A healthy/active life is very doable well into someone 60's now.

60 years old is a "spring chicken" as far as I'm concerned.

Keep in mind. Most want a coach that is here for a legacy and about 20+ years with lots of success. Arians wouldn't be THAT coach to stay that long. Know this is a pipedream but that's what everybody hopes for.

German, my lord that would be absurd in hopes...20 years of 1 coach? The best guys last 10-15 years, above average 5-10, and most 4-5. Anyone thinking we are getting a guy in their mid 30's, or 40's hoping to get him until his 50's or 60's is out of their minds. I'd be happy w/another 5-10 year run.
