It is not a back injury, but I do not know how well a person can recover from that type of injury. If the injury and surgery are minor, I definitely want him in a Bears uniform.
Injury update
Barrett Jones, C, Alabama, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com
01/08/2013 - Alabama center Barrett Jones played the BCS championship game with torn ligaments in his left foot and needs surgery. The two-time All-American and the leader of the Crimson Tide's dominant offensive line was injured in the Southeastern Conference championship against Georgia. He didn't practice again until the day before Alabama left Tuscaloosa to come to south Florida. When the team arrived, he came off the plane wearing a protective boot on his injured foot.
Jones told reporters after the game his injury was similar to the one that put Houston Texas quarterback Matt Schaub out of several games last season. Jones played most of the game and helped the Crimson Tide rush for 265 yard and 5.9 yards per carry. - AP Sports

Good OL players can be found later. A MLB that can start as SLB or MLB next year will be harder to find.
Give me Te'o and be happy that he falls to us. Draft OL with the 2nd. We need a real OL upgrade in Free Agency first

This is why Lovie Smith was fired. There isn't enough cap room to sign good offensive lineman in free agency. At least 4 of our offensive lineman need to be replaced this year. With the way the we have not replaced the talent on the offensive line we almost need to spend every pick in the draft on it (won't happen). If Jones falls to us or is there he needs to be picked. If Garza is good enough for another year Jones could play left guard and then shift to center when Garza retires.

We need 4 o-linemen ( some to start and some to create depth ) so top 2 picks need to be ol . Te'o looked bad last night against the type of players he's gonna be seeing on a weekly basis in the NFL so ... pass .
I Love Lou " Dr. Slushmouth" Holtz .

Draft Jones in the first, best available offensive tackle in the second, then sign LG Andy Levitre from Buffalo.

BJ. The injury is a concern, but it's not a back injury and sounds like it should heal by TC. We need him and two more like him. Maybe Cutler can ask him to shove Webb next time...
Somebody mentioned keeping Garza at C for another year while BJ learns. No. we need to replace Garza, or put him back at guard. he gets thrown around like a rag doll and I'm tired of watching him false start. What kind of center doesn't know when he is going to snap the ball????

Of the guys we interviewed does jones fit what blocking scheme they use?
there are just so many questions right now and until we find out who the coach is and his assistants it's just hard to even speculate on who or what we should get

I know Garza is not good either right now, but there are numerous positions to fill and it more than likely won't be all filled by next season. The pick of Jones would permit the Bears to decide where to place him, either at guard or center, which would also allow them to see if Garza could play better at guard or center.

I agree. I am not completely sold on Te'o, and we do need guards and a center. However, the team has too many holes. Unless they are sure Jones can step in and start at LT day one, they need to take an impact MLB if he is there.
