Honestly, although the guy is known for his bad picks, over time he had gotten better, and can't be blamed for Williams, as he was interested in Clady, and Carimi was a universally lauded pick. Dude also shouldn't be blamed for Haynes (picked right before Polamalu), as he was drafted for a different style of defense than what Lovie coached. He got cute with some of his picks over time, but when you consider that almost every one of the major players on this team were brought here by him, you have to give some respect. I think he's had to have learned (something fans don't believe coaches or GM's are capable of, for some reason) from most of his mistakes by now.
My only problem is why the hell a 3-4 defense would be turned over to him, knowing he's a 4-3 guy. Granted, the Jets have bigger offensive problems than defense, but with a steady o-line, they aren't that far. I know everyone discounts him, but he has shown he can spot qb (grossman has found a way to start after leaving chicago, which shows he has the talent if not the mental fortitude to playing at this level. Orton has had some great moments, and generated interest in the league twice this past year) and RB (signed TJ after he was a bust in ari, drafted benson and Forte), even tho he's not a great wr scout. Doesn't matter, as Holmes is pretty good, and they could always sign a FA. Anyway, i have trouble understanding why they would tell Angelo the same thing they told Emery that the HC stays for another year, esp. When he's not a 3-4 guy..
