Could happen just like that Grizz. Half of the pieces are in place already and a scenario that has KC letting Albert go because of his asking price and drafting the much less expensive Joeckel to replace him makes some sense. If Albert does hit FA I really do expect Emery to check him out and maybe take a serious run at him.
We know OCs aren't usually drafted all that high an even if a guy like Jones doesn't come around often he's still an interior lineman and they usually don't go early. DeCastro was probably one of the best OG prospects to come out of the college ranks in year and even he lasted past #20 so chances are pretty good that we may get our shot at Jones and the need is surely there.
While Angelo was still here I would have thought this idea foolish but Emery does his homework and he does it well so when the opportunity arises he seems to know just what he wants to do. I think these two moves are already on his mind so we'll see if he pulls it off.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Yeah, I've been really hoping for something like this to happen
What if Warmack and jones are avail at 20? Who do you take soul?
I'd have to say Warmack on the off chance jones made it to 52, if that happened (or any tier one OL) I think it would force our hand to go OL again
We need depth and options up front, something we've never had

Warmack rates a little higher so far but Jones may actually be more our type of player. That said I really don't know what I'd do right now.

It's still extremely early, but if jones dosent participate in the combine his stock could tank, guess Ll we can do is wait

Not saying his stock won't suffer, it probably will just because that what happens. Maybe he will fall into the late 1st or high 2nd. But that's an opportunity for us, not a negative. He had a Lisfranc injury repaired (and it couldn't have been too severe since he played on it unlike Schaub's), not an ACL or a back or a hip or shoulder. It's 6 weeks of non-weight bearing and then another 6 of partial that's pretty much it. Not trying to dismiss it, but its not as long-term debilitating as what Carimi or BU had.
There's 4 years worth of starting tape on the guy at G, OT, and C in the most demanding and NFL-like conference in college football. I can't imagine measuring whether he could run a 5.09 or 5.21 40 time really adds much useful information at this point. Unless there's something else we don't know, he should high on Emery's board.

we will see guys that rise, will see QB taken way before they should and we will see DEs that get taken high. With a possible NE SB apperance, TEs will go higher too.
Jones could make it to #50

That's the way I see it too. This kid has proven that he's 100% pure football player AND that he can and will play injured and play well. He's a warrior and we know from his drafting of McClellin over others that is exactly the type of player Emery looks for.
A while ago he was ranked around the top to the middle of the second round which I think was as much as anything because of his position but after that BCS game I think that will change a bit. NFL teams want big dominating linemen and Bama showed them that they have a few and I think those guys just upped their draft positions a few notches.
Say what you will about ND but they are a good football team and Bama destroyed them. If any teams wants pro ready blockers those guy will be on the list. I doubt Jones will last until the second round but I think he's gonna be a very good value pick later in the first.

He's been the guy I've wanted all along, if your emery do you trade down and risk someone nabbing him or pull the trigger at 20?
