He doesn't come across to me as someone who would eliminate a potential hire for HC simply because the can't start 19 Jan. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think he's reached his finalists yet.

Wow. This is twice in the past month that I've witnessed two of my favorite football teams being involved in intensive coaching searches. The one down here at the University of Tennessee was controversial to say the least. Our athletic director (Dave Hart) really bungled the process badly, yet UT still got a solid head coach in the University of Cincinnati's Butch Jones. We went after guys like Charlie Strong, Jimbo Fisher, Mike Gundy and Larry Fedora, and none of them wanted to come here after all the chaos that has occurred in the past five years. We got a good coach who has won four conference championships between his jobs at Central Michigan and Cincinnati. I'm optimistic about the future.

As for the Bears, it looks like the search for a head coach is a better operated than the one conducted at UT. Emery is leaving no stone unturned in his quest to find the perfect fit for the Bears. I'm hoping he hires Dennison because Arians is too old, Carmichael and Clements only know how to throw the football when everyone knows that to be successful in Chicago you have to run, and I'm not entirely sure just how proven Mike McCoy is yet; he did have Peyton Manning as his quarterback this year, after all. However, I'll take any of those coaches I mentioned in a heartbeat because they all have produced good results at their respective locations.

Not sure. There seem to be a lot of little sub-plots and guys have their favs and slants on it. Might be easier to divide by candidate.
