OK, playing Devils advocate here a little bit.
Remember when Lovie was searching for a new OC and he ended up hiring Martz? Remember all the names that were thrown out as "possibles" and it dragged on and on until everyone was hired by someone else EXCEPT Martz, and then we were told Martz was the first choice all along? Keeping in mind that this was JA and Lovie strategy, wouldn't it make sense from a public relations standpoint if Emery wanted Toub all along, but to interview SSSOOOO many others, his hiring would appear validated? It's also ironic that Toub (having interviewed for a HC gig last year) has not been mentioned associated with any other team seeking a new HC, even though he may be let go soon? Perhaps Emery talked to him last year before or after his interview with Miami about being Lovie's successor after he gets the green light to can him.
Like I said, just playing devils advocate for the sake of discussion. There is a lot of conspiracy theory in what I wrote above and I do not particularly subscribe to such notions, but still...
If Toub is hired, it would make me wonder.

It's not a token Rooney Rule interview because Armstrong is black. They already met their quota. It is likely just a favor to a franchise great just to get his name back in the news and maybe get him futher oportunities with other teams. Also, it allows Emery to pick his brain and see his philosophies. It might potentially lead to him being the DC down the line, as our new Head Coach is going to be an offensive guy and might not have his own defensive people.
It is possible, can't really rule anything out. But this search is turning into a circus of sorts. I was kind of hoping to avoid the endless parade of candidates this time around.
The good news is that Emery is getting close to finishing the interviews of NFL coordinators and college coaches on his list. Next week he's working on the high school coach and junior high list of coaches.
Pop Warner coaches will follow the week after that.

All I have to do is give a good pep talk and throw a red flag on the field occasionally. Toub
Areins
Ect
