Despite being considered a franchise QB, any good coach will look at the number of coordinators he's had and his production.
The new head coach will certainly want to have some say on personnel, even though Emery will have the final say. No coach wants to feel helpless when it comes to the players he's given.
A lot of talk about Dallas letting Romo walk next year if they don't see some winning and better play, I could definately see the same for Cutler. Tons of talent, tons of potential, pretty much the same qb; w/1 fatal flaw, they are gunslingers, and you don't see to many teams winning SB's w/gunslingers right now. In an NFL were it's easy to score you cannot afford to have the O turning the ball over, which also is preventing them from scoring themselves.
I'd like to see them bring along a young QB, even if they like Cutler as the long term solution. That's just good business. Of course, that's assuming the new coaching staff can develop talent in-house. Something the Bears were abysmal at, under Lovie Smith's regime.
Regarding Cutler, if they think they don't like Cutler, then I'd suggest they make dead-certain they have a better QB locked up, before they move on from Cutler. I've seen too many Quinn-the-Eskimo and Chad Hutchinson types here. I could just see the Bears bumble this and end up worse than where we already are. I'm fine if they want to upgrade - but just make dead certain it IS an upgrade and not another piece of crap like we've had in the past.
No more Eskimo's please.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but if Babich does get let go (I thought I saw somebody throw that out as a possibility), I would jump at getting Mike in here at the LB coach position. It's not as if he wouldn't know what he's talking about.

I'll bet you mean Marinelli (not Babich).

I've been checking the web daily to see if we had any talks w/ them, it just seems like the list keeps getting longer & longer more than we were expected

Although I would not mind him as DC, I'd prefer to keep Marinelli. I meant Babich (currently the LB coach). Having Mike as the HC would be bad, in my opinion, but he certainly knows defense.

As of 3pm this afternoon the candidate line at Halas Hall was still pretty long. Emery is going through the interviews at a feverish pace, but it may be awhile before they all get through...

I agree. Singletary would definitely be an upgrade over Babich. Keep Marinelli and hire Mike as LB coach.

No good manager is going to hold an employee accountable if he does not have the authority to do it his way. The employee has a way out if he doesn't get it done.
It may be that Emery is going to tell him that he has to live with him for a year. Emery knows how that works.
I still think Cutler is a good QB and needs the opportunity to have the things around him fixed up so he can actually do what he needs to do. At least that's what my beliefs are.
