Frankly, I'm a little concerned about his age. I know, that's discrimination. But hey, he's only a year older than me, and I don't want to put in 60 hour weeks. or more. Other than that, he has impressive qualifications. It seems strange to say, but I trust our GM to make the right choice, whichever candidate he chooses.

He already is doing that, and seems quite content. Again When you figure the guy will only be HC for 4-8 years his Age isn't an issue.
What he did this past year w/a team that was expected to win 1-2 games, tops, and then lost their HC to cancer is absolutely amazing. If he doesn't get the HC job, no biggie, but if he doesn't get it on age, that's stupid.

You guys don't want Bruce Arians. I can't stress that point enough - he's just not what the media has built him up to be. The fact that Roethlisberger endorses him comes as no surprise to Steelers fans and I wouldn't expect Bears fans to know why. Ben and Bruce were and still are buddy-buddy, usually chatting on the phone once a week about their lives. Now, an OC and starting Quarterback having a good relationship is fine, but the simple fact of the matter is, Ben was able to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted in the offense. There was no leash on him and I think that ultimately hindered his progression as a Quarterback.
If you're able to move past that point, though, Bruce was an absolutely terrible offensive coordinator for the Steelers. I can't tell you how many times Ben had to make magic happen on third down and put a drive together despite the horrendous playcalling that Bruce was giving through. People are praising him for his job in Indianapolis which was admirable, but that offense was built on Arians' ideology and was ultimately the reason why they lost to the Ravens.
If the Bears do go ahead and hire Arians, it'd be a huge step back from Lovie Smith.

Thanks for the insight on Arians from a Steelers fan's perspective, and welcome to the board!!

BA was there as a WR coach in 2009 for the first SB in 20 years(not saying he was the reason for the SB, just sayin), he was the OC for the 2nd SB, ya I'd hate to have a terrible OC that helps the team to win a SB....
He also gave Big Ben some of his best years statsitically, before him he only threw for 3K 1x, and he also threw more int's then TD's that year, before BA it was well known that if Big Ben atttempted more then 30 passes it was pretty much a loss for Pitt, after BA not the case, threw for no less then 3K each year(including a 12 game season) and 4K twice. td's were up per year, before BA 17-18 TD's, after BA 17-26 TD's, int's and comp stayed about the same.
Oh and Matt Spaeth also endorsed Arians, so it's not just Bruce's buddy. You are also ignoring what he did for Indy this year w/a rookie QB, and the HC going down to a serious illness mid season. Hard to say the guy is horrid OC or HC when he did what he did w/a team that was thought to win 1 or 2 games all season.

Any Bear would give Smith a ringing endorsement for the same reasons. Doesn't mean I would take Smith just because all the players love him. Thanks. Good to know

Either way, it's hard to believe a team will win a game, missing its playcaller and the coordinator of it's strongest unit. I'm sure that even tho plays may have broken down under him, he still got that team farther than they should be. Against the Seahawks, and with a qb that had a worse sb than grossman, he found a way to score points on offense, and win the big one (the pass from ward to Holmes was badass). He should be a strong candidate.

It may be that Emery is going to tell him that he has to live with him for a year. Emery knows how that works.
I still think Cutler is a good QB and needs the opportunity to have the things around him fixed up so he can actually do what he needs to do. At least that's what my beliefs are.
I don't think a qb in as early as round 4 is a horrible idea, not nessicarly to replace him but as a backup with his injury concern
