Your three finalists for Chicago Bears Head Coach are...

I believe it'll be either McCoy or Dennison with Trestman being the sleeper pick. Anyone else and I'll be surprised.

I don't understand how people cannot want guys like Cowher or Gruden because they have spent too many years outside the NFL and "don't know how it's like to be coaching in the greatest league today". If you don't want those guys as HC you certainly don't want Trestman as your next HC. Why would this guy be better than the other two who have actually won a Super Bowl before?

Sorry buddy, but this doesn't mean anything. I don't wanna sound rude, but the CFL SUCKS! Jesus, have you guys actually watched a game or two? Henry Burris has been the starting QB for nearly a decade. So much for that. Winning two Grey Cups in shitty league that only consists of 8 team isn't a great accomplishment. Don't forget that the NFL is the best and strongest league in the world (32 teams!) with much more talent and the Bears are in the toughest division.

Just because you won two cups in the CFL doesn't mean you can achieve the same in the NFL. Just saying...

I absolutely don't have a problem with Trestman getting the OC job, but I don't feel like he has all the tools to win the big games. That's all.

I tell you guys one thing watching Corey graham play so well just furthers my dissapointment in lovie on how he threw that kid in the dog house. Always liked him but lovie always tried replacing him

with that said McCoy is a solid coaching target now lets see if texans lose also so we can find out who our next hc is by end of next week!

I'd loved to have seen Peyton win another SB, and just make it 100 clear that he is the best QB ever. But on the same time I want us to find our new HC asap. As all Broncos games this year you should take the play calling with a gram of salt, Manning is running the offense. I hope it was Fox that made the last playcalls and not McCoy, seems stupid to take a knee when you got 2 times out left and the best QB.

+1 to ZifanQ, When I saw the Broncos not use the last 20-30 seconds (didn't they do that both halves?) I told my buddy, "Uh-oh, looks like they (Broncos) are playing to not lose. The Bears did that a lot this season. It didn't work for the Bears, I doubt that it works for the Broncos."

All of the assistants and coordinators are still under contract. I believe before any of them get released Emery will have to be convinced that the guy who replaces him is a better coach or coordinator. I think if I had to make an educated guess right now I'd say that McCoy and Trestman are the front runners. That's where Trestman comes in. I don't know where you get that he doesn't coach the same sport. He's been the HC of the CFL champs two years running and although the rules are different it's still football. They still block and they still tackle in The Great White North. He also has a damn fine pedigree as an NFL assistant both as a QB coach and as an OC. Look over his resume. He coaches the same sport.

NFL

Trestman moved to the National Football League and coached the running backs with the Minnesota Vikings in 1985 and 1986. He became quarterbacks coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1987 then held the same position with the Cleveland Browns in 1988. In Cleveland he again coached Kosar and the team finished 10–6 and made the playoffs. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 1989. That year Kosar passed for 3,533 yards and 18 TDs, wide receiverWebster Slaughter had a franchise record 1,236 receiving yards, and the Browns made it to the AFC Championship game.


In 1990, Trestman returned to Minnesota as quarterbacks coach for the Vikings. He spent two years there and then left coaching for three years.
He returned to the NFL in 1995 as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator with San Francisco, where he served in that capacity through 1996. The first year he was there the 49ers led the NFL with 457 points scored, 644 pass attempts and 4,779 passing yards.


Trestman joined the Detroit Lions as quarterbacks coach in 1997. That year Lion's quarterback Scott Mitchell passed for 3,484 yards, second most in team history.


In 1998 he was with the Arizona Cardinals as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. That year quarterback Jake Plummer threw for 3,737 yards, and the Cardinals made the playoffs for the first time since 1982 and won their first post season game in 51 years.


He next went to the Oakland Raiders in 2001 as the quarterbacks coach. In 2002 he was promoted to offensive coordinator and the Raiders led the NFL in total offense with 389.8 yards per game and passing yards with 279.7 per game. Under Trestman's guidance, Raiders QB Rich Gannon won the 2002 NFL MVP award as the Raiders reached Super Bowl XXXVII, losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.


Trestman spent the 2004 season with the Miami Dolphins before returning to the college ranks.In 2012, Trestman was interviewed by the Indianapolis Colts for their vacant head-coaching job. The job was ultimately given to Chuck Pagano^[1]


On January 5, 2013, the Chicago Bears announced that they will interview Trestman for their vacant head coaching position.^[2]



On January 8, 2013, the Cleveland Browns interviewed Trestman for their vacant head coaching position.^[3]


All things considered now that the Broncos have been elminated and McCoy is now available immediately I believe he's at the head of the class but I also believe Trestman has moved ahead of Arians and that it will one of those two.

Besides before you put down CFL coaches becoming NFL HCs think back to the Bills during the Marv Levy era and how he took them to four straight SBs and Levy has given Trestman a very strong testimonial and recommendation.

I'm not saying Clements isn't a good prospect I just don't believe he's the best for the Bears or anyone else right now. If he was why aren't other team looking for HCs pursuing him hard? I think they all believe he needs a little more seasoning as an OC. JMHO and again I would be very surprised of he's the guy, but who knows. Emery does a lot of things you don't necessarily expect him to do.

the problem with trestman is maybe the game has passed him by. the NFL changes quickly and if you're out of it for too long, it could be that what worked for you 12 years ago won't work now.

as for clements, i don't see why he doesn't have the same amount of seasoning as say, chuck pagano or mike mccarthy, guys with a year of coordinator experience who were offered HC jobs.

i too, think mccoy is the frontrunner. but if we can get a dynamic offensive mind in here, we can start beating up on that terrible packers defense again.

Someone from the 9er's might be appropriate. They seem to have their number.
