Marc Trestman
Darrell Bevel
Bruce Arians
Bring back Lovie Smith

Stop worrying, buddy. All the likely top-tier candidates are now available (we got lucky this weekend). The Bears HC job is by far the most appealing one out there. It's a 10 win team that was a half-decent offense away from being a 12-13 win team. Lots of pieces are in place including a defense that finished 1st in Aikman efficiency in the entire NFL with virtually all its key players, including 5 pro bowlers (I'm including the Briggs snub here), set to return. It's features a top notch RB duo, a talented QB, and one of the best WRs in the game. The franchise is one of the NFL's most prestigious and biggest TV draws in the leagues largest undivided media market. There's a lot more for a coaching staff to work with and be attracted to than in Arizona or San Diego or Jacksonville.
I will be shocked if we didn't have a new HC all sewn by Friday afternoon at the very latest. We should have the pick of the litter.

I dunno fellas. I like a lot of these candidates and I think any one of them could be the guy, but I usually go by "where there's smoke, there's fire", and Jimmy Johnson sent up some smoke the other day. Unless he was intentionally sending it up our butts, I think Trestman may be our guy.
Now, with that said, I kind of like the guys credentials, but Jimmy played him up like a "my guy" type of thing. We hired a Jimmy Johnson "guy" once before (Dave Weeniestead) and it didn't work out so good. I guess we'll just all wait and see what happens.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

Could be (McCoy to Arizona) but I'm suspicious of this. They leaked falsely that they had Andy Reid all sewn up too. There isn't much to interest an offensive minded HC DOWN HERE, unless he likes daunting challenges. The Cards have no true #1 QB and the closest guy they do have is injury prone with a huge contract. Their other QB options, in a very weak QB draft class, are disasters. Their running game isn't much to speak of either. The OL is literally the worst in the NFL. It's a mess and backwater franchise that doesn't draw much attention.
The appeal would then be a very big HC contract but the Bidwells are known locally as extremely cheap. Doubt that happens either. Don't count McCoy out.
I will say that I like what Dennison did with the Houston offense. He helped turn a pedestrian offense and dink-and-dunk QB in Matt Schaub into a balanced O with a decent passing attack and his OL expertise is definitely a plus. Trestman has a rep for being a good QB developer/coach too. I wouldn't count any of these 3 out and Arians I'd still a possibility too.

I agree. I think I'm just super excited to see the new staff (not just the head coach, but the entire coaching staff from top to bottom for 2013).
I would be fine with the Bears keeping the defensive coaches intact. I'm fine with Toub staying as ST's OC, if they decide (and he decides) to continue the status quo.
By far, most of my anticipation is in regards to the offense. I'm not just interested in the OC, but in the entire offensive positional coaching staff - at every position. Ever one of them. I can't wait to see what's happening on offense.
If there is one thing I've learned from Lovie's tenure here, is that it's one thing to get a team to the "good" level. It's a heck of a lot more difficult to go from the "good" level to the "great" level.
I've been thinking today about the Patriots organization. I know a lot of folks trash talk about Belechick. But what that organization accomplishes year in and year out, is amazing. I absolutely love how they weave together great teams with a nice mix of draftees and brilliant FA acquisitions to keep the cupboard stocked with great talent. We could sure learn a lot from a franchise like that.

Thanks For The Memories
bearsinhouston say BEAR DOWN!

From "reading the tea leaves", my best guess is that Emery is looking for a HC who is content to focus on offense and basically wants to leave the D and D-coaches pretty much as is. That could be a deciding factor is two candidates are close or equal in Emerys estimation. Toub, on the other hand, seems less likely to stay which is too bad. I'd like to keep him but you have to figure he wants a shot at a HC job in the not too distant future and may see staying with the Bears as a "dead end" with a brand new HC coming in. Just a guess, I don't know. It seems like emery was interviewing ST coordinators to fill out his files in case they need to replace Toub.

Cards really want McCoyJay Glazer @JayGlazer
Chargers interviewing Broncos' Mike McCoy today and Cards now want to bring McCoy back in for 2nd interview tomorrow
Yes they do. I hope Emery does not or he may miss the bus. I really expected a press release today on going to second interview. Today is not over yet, but I expected one by now. Maybe we are all wrong and he is targeting someone in the last four teams. He should make his move next week if this is the case.
All I can say is that I am not sure what he is thinking right now.

Sean Jensen @seankjensen
Only Phil Emery knows who he has "synergy" with. But my gut feeling is Arians, Trestman and dark horse like Sullivan or Carmichael in mixSean Jensen @seankjensen
And Mike McCoy is the "hot" head-coach candidate right now, but I'm not sure about #Bears given overlap with Marshall & Cutler in Denver
my feeling is that a guy like him knows more about this situation than we do. Going by his 2nd tweet, Dennison looks more likely
