Kelly to Browns seems to be done, Bills will hire Whisenhunt or Smith. That would leave us with 3 spots filled and 4 spots open

We have some good options open and it looks like we can pick the guy we want

Did more than one actually get filled? I thought only one had been filled for sure. At least one more was "close", but that doesn't mean much.

Of the two McCoy has age on his side whereas Arians probably shines as a developer of QBs and Cutler could still use that. His mechanics and his decision making both need improvement so anyone who can do that gets moved up a rung or two on the prospects ladder as far as I'm concerned. You also have to look at the job he did from beginning to end with Luck and with Indy this year. This isn't the same team now that we played in the opener and clobbered. We couldn't beat them again if we played them tomorrow.

McCoy did a great job of adjusting to the skills of his QBs and making something out of nothing but Manning has made his job somewhat easier this year especially as a play caller. The thing that impressed me most about McCoy is how he resurrected a pretty poor running game and made Knowshon Moreno a useful back again. It's all in the blocking scheme and he designed a good one. Manning took care of the other part for him.

My daughter is a huge Broncos fan and tells me if the Bears take McCoy away she's gonna be pissed.
Those are great points. One thing that I'm wondering about, is which candidate can also build the best, rock-solid coaching staff. This was one of Lovie Smith's problems. A number of his positional coaches seemed sub-par, and of course he never did get one of his coordinator position's filled with a competent guy (OC).

The new HC needs to be a guy who has a great team vision for offense, defense and special teams - kind of like a tripod, if one of the tripod legs is weak, then everything collapses. Lovie could only get 2 of the 3 tripod legs in place. The new guy needs to have a solid vision for all 3. That's why it may make sense for the new guy to keep Toub and Marinelli if they will stay. Then focus on getting a solid OC - and much better offense position coaches to come to Chicago.

I'm wondering which of our candidates would best be able to build that coaching foundation. I believe Emery could be a big help here too.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

The Bills hired a new coach as well and it wasn't Lovie. It's Doug Marrone who was the HC at Syracuse. Lovie might not even get a HC job this year. Maybe mediocracy (sp) isn't in vogue anymore.

You know, I passively hear so much on 670 and 1000 as I'm driving... they make it sound like theres more progression in teams' coaching searches than there probably is. I admit, I haven't really been on the sports sites since Friday afternoon...

    I'm BACK, Jack... or something..
