yeah, but it was the saints. and there were suspensions. it was interim for 6 games. it's not like he had any real control over the team. let's give these guys a year or two before we panic.

First off he is not from another country, second with the mess down in NO at the start of the season they were lucky to get the wins

in other words... get the best OL Coach available.
Trestman will call the plays and design the Offense. Now I just wonder about his QB Coach. A guy that Trestman knows/likes and has experience as QB/QBCoach. Who's available?
Marinelli will stay as DC? Guy is a good DC and can work without having a HC that dictates him. JJ said that Rod and Lovie may have part ways if Lovie wasn't fired.

Wow, that's 10 years ago. Hopefully he has more recent experience with him to base a decision like that on.

Here's from interesting tidbits on the hire...
Report: Aaron Kromer accepts OC role with Bears
By Marc Sessler - Around the League Writer
Marc Trestman isn't wasting time gathering his crew in the Windy City.
Former New Orleans Saints interim head coach Aaron Kromer has accepted the role of offensive coordinator with the Chicago Bears, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Per the report, Kromer also will serve as offensive line coach.
Kromer and Trestman crossed path on an Oakland Raiders team that went to the Super Bowl in 2002. Trestman worked wonders with quarterback Rich Gannon in Oakland and he's been hired by the Bears to do the same with Jay Cutler.
We expect this offense to have Trestman's fingerprints all over it. Kromer will likely hold the title, with Trestman calling plays, not unlike in Dallas, where Jason Garrett calls the shots despite Bill Callahan sitting in the OC position.
Trestman is an intriguing hire because of the promise he brings to a troubled Bears offense. It will be fascinating to see what he does with Chicago's scheme. Kromer, meanwhile, equates to a rock-solid hire for the Bears' eternally shaky line. Somewhere right now, Cutler is smiling.

What did I just get through saying in the thread about assistant coaching and coordinator hire? And bingo.............
"Bates maybe but I don't think so unless after Trestman meets with Jay he decides it's good idea to keep him. Maybe more as a QB coach and play caller. I'd like to see an OC who's a good line coach because we need to replace Tice in that capacity. In that regard he wasn't all that bad."
I don't care what he did as an interim HC in NOLA. He was their line coach and the Saints have a good line and found ways to protect Brees. For all intents and purposed Trestman is is own OC as far as how that offense will be designed and run. Kromer to Trestman is like Dennison has been to Shanny and Kubiak. More of an OC in name than reality. T
This will be Trestman's offense just like it was Lovie's defense and that didn't work out all that bad for us. Besides, is there anything in the Bears offense that needs coordinating more than the blocking? We needed a good line coach and we got one so who cares what his title is. Keeps others from hiring him and he was probably sought after. Now if he wants Bates to stay as his QB coach and maybe do the play calling it makes some sense.

I had seen us taking an OC that have experience in calling plays etc and have done it recently. Looking forward to see how this pans out. I'm not to worried about the Saints not doing well, Sean Payton is the mastermind. It says something but we'll have to wait and see.
Welcome on board!
In Emery we trust.

God, I want Bates to go away so bad...

Hey Jimmors. If you read this post this would be #2 of that seven you asked about. Before the day is out I'll find you the other five.
