Love the "I have a staff in my back pocket" preparations. I knew having a preparation freak (Emery) hire a preparation freak (Trestman) would turn into this type of staff hiring frenzy.

It's a breath of fresh air to see the organizational skills with Emery in charge. Emery operates with surgical precision. I think we're seeing a brilliant GM at work here. It's like watching a championship chess master at work.

What, you didn't like the Lovie Smith offensive coordinator hiriing fiasco in 2010 when no one would take a look at the position and he had to coax Martz out of retirement?

When we see a real staff in action, I think we are all going to wonder why we didn't get rid of Lovie earlier. This is nice to see how it is shaping up. Is DeCamillis as good as Toub? I mean he's good, but did we take a step down there?

Isn't it a little bit telling when other NFL teams, some who haven't had any success in years, are not hiring Lovie Smith as their head coach? Andy Reid gets fired and hired pretty quickly, but Smith has only had interviews and likely won't be a head coach in 2013.

Might be a step back or maybe even just a lateral step. Changing up things might even be good for the ST dynamic.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

This is very refreshing to see what looks like professionals moving about with a determined plan. I can understand why they didn't move on from Lovie earlier because it seems the McCaskeys really liked him.
I'm not too concerned with if DeCamillis is as good as Toub. Having one of the best special teams units has not resulted in any Superbowl wins for us. If the arrow goes up on the offense at the cost of special teams, then I am for it.

Well, here's hoping it was at least a lateral step. Toub was top notch and I think fans have come to expect a competent ST group.

Toub was a great ST coach. In fairness, I believe he was given better talent overall to work with than a lot of ST's units. We drafted guys exclusively for him to use on ST's, and he had Pro-Bowl guys (like Peanut) playing special teams. Not every NFL team puts this high of a priority on ST's talent. I'm not saying it was wrong for the Bears to do this under Toub. Just saying part of the equation with Toub's success was related to the talent-level he was given. It was top notch across his depth chart.
