5.0 out of 5 stars Perseverance: an inspiring book from an inspiring man May 21, 2012 By Zachary I had the chance to read Marc Trestman's book about a year ago after a friend had given it to me as a birthday present. After finishing it, what struck me the most was the general arc of the book: life always throws twists and turns at you, but that you are most defined by the ways you respond to them. This message stuck with me at a time in my life when I was suffering through chronic depression. As a former football player myself, the transition to a ''non-athlete'' was excruciatingly difficult after suffering a series of concussions. For about a year, I was in and out of the hospital and had to undergo long-term therapy to recover from the head injuries. My life had turned itself upside down and I had no idea what would await me. Reading through Mr. Trestman's book helped me realise that life doesn't always go exactly the way you want it to, but that you can shape your destiny by working hard and maintaining your goals in sight. This book is a must-read for all people, young and old alike, who often find themselves as the underdog in life.
