I was hoping Rod stayed, but maybe this is for the best. The Bears didn't have a losing culture by any means, but they had a not-so-good culture. Maybe they needed a total cleansing. Besides, had Rod stayed, I could imagine a situation where the team got fragmented and the defense only listened to or respected Rod, ignoring Trestman.

Kinda like with Buddy Ryan in '85? Oh no, we can't have a repeat of that.

Ya know, I'm not completely torn up with rod leaving...brand new everything isn't always bad. Lovie had loyal followers, new regime completely I guess
And again, I trust emery to spearhead this and find a good guy

Actually, I like the idea of Hoke. Some of you may recall that there were teams sniffing around him LAST year to interview for open DC spots, and the Bears blocked them. He has been a DC in college before, so he has had the stress of calling plays before, and he HAS been developing our secondary rather nicely. He knows our personnel and our Defense, and he knows our Division rivals. He might be the right man for the job.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

So does #54 stay with this turn of events?
