let Melton walk, use the Cap Space different. Sign a 0 Tech that knows the 3-4 and add a OLB in Free Agency. Draft a ILB with the 2nd (1 of Olgetree/Te'o/Minter) and we have ourself a 3-4 Defense. DBs can play this, Briggs could play as one of the ILBs, Peppers, Wooton, Paea and Shea could all play 3-4
switching to a 3-4 is not a problem. Players that would be good additions for this would be DL Ryan Sopoaga (Spell?) from the 9ers or even think about giving Shawne Marriman a last chance. They won't get a lot of money. This money freed up could be used on the OLine
Horton is starting to be linked to Cleveland. Not sure that's the way it will end up, but he is definitely in play.

After hiring Norv Turner as the team’s offensive coordinator this afternoon, adding Horton to the staff would just strengthen what I believe to be a solid foundation in Cleveland.
So this gives us versatility to develop a hybrid or slowly move to a 3-4 if we wanted. We may be late to the party though. Not sure if we are interested (seems like we should be)

No love for singletary?
The bad thing about Horton is that he wants a HC position. Bringing him in may end up being a one year deal and we don't need that. I like the choice a lot, but if we have to change two years in a row, not a good thing.
Thats a good point. Lets just promote Hoke and move forward.
Another thing might be to take a look at the top rated D such as Seahawks, 49ers, and Texans to see if anyone on those teams are better than what we have.
