I also like that there was no mention of the peckers in the presser. Not one. Any day you don't hear about that nest of vermin is a good day.

So he definitely fits the personality mold of a Chicago HC... haha... but he definitely seems to posess the football intelligence. Personality-wise... he comes off like a more intelligent Jauron.
I'm cautiously optimistic about him. I hope he's our HC for 20 years and wins 20 superbowls... haha... I just got a weird feeling about the guy from the presser. Hey, none of us here are experts, people rub people in different ways (giggity)... By no means am I rooting against the man. I want superbowls... many of them. Soon.
Those are good points. My post wasn't directed at you. And I admit Trestman doesn't look like a typical head coach. He seemed passionate about his convictions. This is one thing that I noticed. Like when he was talking about winning and QB stuff. He wasn't loud. Just passionate.

Oh, my comment was a rip on Tommy's intelligence, done in jest.
I'm not sure if you've ever listened to a Lovie Smith press conference, but Lovie has the dull personality coupled with pre-canned, thoughtless responses with a touch of arrogance dabbled in. Trestman can be dull, but so long as he's honest, straight-forward, and doesn't condescend the media and fans, he'll be head and shoulders above Lovie Smith in terms of holding a press conference. My first impression is that Trestman will be that.

So if this guy tells us about the venerable and long fabled "Hester Package" there might actually BE one?

I got that and Yes he will. always calm, cool, collected, never a bad word. he is a true 'professor'-like coach. He may sound overly intellectual at times to some folk lol.

lol. the offence you will see on the field will be a west-coast type offence in theory but it will depend on the players he has and the teams he will be facing. I can actually imagine him chomping at the bit and planning out his entire training schedule and regimen. He will want to prove himself in a big way.

He said he couldn't get his hands on Cutler. (get in line behind every defensive lineman that comes into Chicago). other than sounding like a bride on her honeymoon night, this is a good thing. He really sounds like he wants to start shaping what he and Cutler want to become. Reading between the lines, it sounds like Cutler is also realizing he is not where he wants to be and wants help getting there. This could be really great.
I just hope we can continue our defensive standing in the league. I'm really not sure how the CFL is set up, but the limited number of workouts, etc might frustrate him. It's a wierd deal anyway. If both a player and coach want to work more to become better, why can't they?
(I know.... It's a great question... The New Chicago Bears Motto...)
