And you would be welcome to throw in good passing threat in above the rb coach. Point being, the rb coach's influence is hard to tease out from all the other, bigger, influences.
Didn't Denver go for a while where no matter who they brought in as a RB, they did well? I know their system must have allowed that to happen, but I think maybe the RB coach was a part of it?

It all starts in the trenches. If we have a good OL, it doesnt really matter who our assistant coaches are. but with a piss poor OL, blame gets tossed around like a frisbee.

yeah, I know. I just remembering thinking to myself that they were the closest thing to a RB factory for a while. I thought they must be doing something right. Then some would leave and not do anything on their next team.
OL I'm sure had to be good because even a great RB can't do well behind a lousy line, but when I see stuff like that it makes me want to know if there was a particular guy responsible. Maybe the guy we want was not the RB coach but the OL coach, but for a while it seemed like they could throw anyone in as RB and he would be great.

Perfectly possible. Your guess is probably at least as good as mine. The NFL seems to have come around to thinking RBs are fungible, but that doesn't (to me) demonstrate that the RB coach is critical. I'd guess most folks think the system in Denver (i.e., the play calling and play design) and the OL blocking (their famous zone blocking scheme) were the main sources of value.

Exactly...play calling is much more important then who our RB Coach is.
Plus, remember that Emery is still the shot caller...he extended Forte, brought in Bush, so he definitely knows how to acquire and keep talent. It will be up to Trestman to turn the talent Emery gets into gold. Problem with JA and Lovie is that they were clueless with offensive talent, so it never really mattered WHO our OC/Ass't coaches were, because they were given crap to start with, or they simply flat out neglected the offense and focused on Defense.

Yeah. sure is possible. I always like to know why and then try and duplicate it. If it was the scheme, then ask why don't we do that. If it was a guy, then I want to know, why can't we hire that guy.

Why is everyone forgetting that the running game, and the whole cowboys team, fell apart with Murray being out much of the first half of the season. When he came back, the whole team did better. Also, the cowboys have been playing "next man up" with the rb position, save this year. The Raiders were also pretty good with LaMont. Damn jerk should've stayed with he Jets, but we had Curtis Martin for another year or two. Think this is a good hire, and we have plenty of talent on this team, and maybe the new guy can teach them something they don't know.

See, I that's why I ask others what people think of the situation. I barely have time to watch the Bears. I simply do not follow any other teams and don't know what issues they have or if their coaches are good or not. Maybe this guy will be ok. I sure hope so.

I cannot believe this site has turned into a crazy farm in one day. Did everyone expect ex head coaches or OC/DC's to fill every positional assstant job? I don't love the all the hires, but I'm hardly going to question every hire when I have no idea what the reasoning behind it is. It's hardly like this guy has had no success at USC, Oak, or Dallas either.
I love the DC hire also, the guy has experience building 3-4 and 4-3 D's, which will allow Emery to go BPA and this guy to build according to the pieces he has, now and moving forward.
Actually very few of the firing/hirings have bothered me. I wanteda cleaning house, I didn't really want Rod or Bates to stay either. If the D/ST' take a step or 2 back, okay, as long as the O takes 4-5 steps forward it should all even out. And I don't really think they will just b/c a handfull of coaches left.
