Let's talk supporting your teammates when injured

I want to get some more peoples (hopefully less angry and more reasonable) thoughts on this matter.

I was having a debate (for lack of a better term) with fellow Bear fans who found it wrong that Gronkowski was up in the booth instead of on the sidelines supporting his team while he was injured.

Personally, I have no issue with this.. but these other guys find it wrong, and fails to show unity.

So I ask you my Bear fan brethern. Does it matter to you, where a player is if he is injured and cannot play? Would you take offense to it if they were not on the field but in the booth? Or maybe even at home?

I don't have a problem w/it. One can express unity before, during or after the game. Unless the player can contribute to the overall strategy or play-calling I don't think it's that much of a big deal. Conversely, when a player is absent the team might rally more in missing their injured teammate.

He's a big boy and far beyond that need to be parented by us or anyone else. If he was in the booth then I think we can safely assume that neither his coach or his teammates had any problem with it and those are the ones who count most.

I don't care what some Bears fans thought about it and I'm sure neither does Gronkowski. Benji, why don't you ask them why they insist on living someone else's life more than their own? They can dislike it all they want but it's Gronkowski's decision not theirs.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Anyone who cares about where an injured player IS on gameday is the same type of idiot who thinks that the only good type of coach is one that is yelling fire and brimstone on the sidelines. These "fans" think everyone should act according to their (that fan's) standards, and anyone who doesnt is doing something 'wrong.' Its BS, plain and simple.

I don't think it's a slam dunk, one size fits all question. In this case, the replacement player is experienced, or hAs other experienced players at the same position to provide guidance or support on the sideline. I have no problem whatsoever. Now, if this was the BEAR and the injured player was Cutler or Marshall or Urlacher or Peppers (a team leader) then I think they should be on the sideline if possible to assist in guidance or reads or technique issues that might arise during the game. That's the only reason.

I wasn't trying to argue anything... and I know where you all are coming from. If I were actually playing I could care less where an injured teammate was. I merely said if it were me I'd be on the damn field regardless if your not supposed to be according to the NFL rules on IR players doing so. I'll be damned if someone kept me away from my teammates during the heat of battle. They do it in high school, they do it in college... why not the NFL?
