Of that smaller contract group Collins would be the pick of the litter followed by Okoye, Moore, and Bowman.

I'd definantly re-sign Melton to a 4-year deal, Roach and Louis to a 1-year deal. Urlacher it depends how much cap room we have left once we get a LT.
Zen I don't agree with you at all on Louis. At the point of his injury or right before the guy had allowed one sack all year long ONE! On that line that was a major miracle especially since he had no help from Carimi and little from Garza who had their own struggles in pass protection. One and one he was controlling and stonewalling his guy on every pass play.
The run blocking wasn't all that good across the board because it was a lousy scheme to begin with but Louis is a very capable run blocker probably the best combination or speed, agility and strength on that line. You must have been watching a different Louis than I was because even the game analysts were calling him out as the best blocker on that line most games.
Assuming he can return and I don't see any reason he can't since ACL injuries aren't as bad for lineman as they are others, Garza even play without one in one of his knees, he's the best and most consistent lineman you've got. You can't replace all five of them and they won't. If he's good to go and we solve the RT issue with Carimi returning to form or Webb or Scott then the right side is good to go as is and you work on LG and LT and an eventual replacement for Garza.
Roach IS special for two reasons. He plays that SLB spot perfectly. He holds his gap and forces the play back into Urlacher, Briggs and whatever pursuit the right side of the line can muster. When he moved to the middle Hayes didn't do well with that at all and team could run right. He's not recognized for what he does because in that defense he's a force guy not a tackler.
The other thing that makes him valuable is that he's the most experienced MLB we have and with the situation surrounding Urlacher up in the air as much as it is he actually may end up being the MLB next year. On top of that he can still play STeams. He's a lot more valuable than many think he is just because he can do as much as he can and he does it well. He's not an All Pro but he's a smart and consistent core guy in that defense and we can use him.
Izzy is the guy that's hardest to justify if only as mats points out we actually have enough depth behind him to do without but if you don't sign Izzy then maybe they should sign Okoye. What makes letting Izzy go tough is that the guy is a playmaker. He made bad things happen to the other guys all year long last season and he's a great spot player at both DE and DT. When he subbed for Melton on passing downs we lost very little as far as pressure goes. He's quick and a very tough guy to block when he's playing DT.
Re-sign in order of priority assuming a reasonable price can be reached (which should be relatively easy this year given the overall NFL cap situation)...
Melton: A no brainer. Coming into his own as a stud DT. A must.
Louis: A short term deal. Yeah, I think he's an OL keeper and will bounce back well from his ACL.
Roach: Valuable as a hybrid SLB/MLB. Him >> Hayes IMO.
Urlacher: See his dedicated contract thread. 1-2 year deal.
Izzy: Not vital but he has value and had a helluva year. Can play DE and DT well. 1 yr deal, prolly his last.
