Bears hire Meyer as assistant OL coach
I know this is "just" an assistant OL coach, but he is representative of the high quality coaches Trestman is bringing to the Bears. I really like this guy.

The Chicago Bears named Pat Meyer their assistant offensive line coach, the team announced on Thursday.
Meyer was the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach of the Montreal Alouettes last season where he worked under new Bears head coach Marc Trestman.
Prior to making the move to the CFL, Meyer spent time in the college ranks with Colorado State (2008-11), Florida State (2007), North Carolina State (2000-06) and Memphis (1999-2000).
Meyer played collegiately at Colorado State in the early 1990s where he was an all-WAC selection three straight years. He played professionally with the Arizona Cardinals and the St. Louis Stampede of the Arena Football League.
Meyer and Bears offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Aaron Kromer will be charged with the task of improving an offensive line that struggled to protect quarterback Jay Cutler much of last season.

A strong contributor to CSU's success in the early 1990s, Pat Meyer is in his second tenure at Colorado State, after joining Steve Fairchild's new staff as offensive line coach on Jan. 14, 2008. He was promoted to run game coordinator on March 13, 2009, after earning recognition from Rivals.com as one of the nation's top 10 recruiters among non-BCS schools. One year later, on Jan. 8, 2010, Meyer became the Rams' offensive coordinator, then proceeded to help assemble one of the highest-rated recruiting classes in CSU history, earning mention from Rivals as one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation across all schools.
In the spring of 2010, four of Meyer's starters on the CSU offensive line earned invitations to NFL camps, including sixth-round draft selection Shelley Smith, now with the Houston Texans. Cole Pemberton (Houston), Adrian Martinez (Seattle) and Tim Walter (Chicago) signed free-agent contracts.
Meyer, 39, returned to his alma mater from Florida State, where he spent one season (2007) working exclusively with Bobby Bowden's football program as a strength coach.
Prior to his work with the Seminoles, Meyer spent seven years in the North Carolina State athletic department. After four seasons (2000-03) as the football team's head strength and conditioning coach, the school promoted him to head the entire athletic department's strength programs, a role he held from June of 2004 to February of 2006. Chuck Amato then hired him in 2006 to coach the Wolfpack offensive line. At N.C. State, Meyer helped to condition and train five first-round NFL draft choices, including first-rounders Mario Williams, the No. 1 overall selection in 2006, Philip Rivers, Manny Lawson, Koren Robinson and John McCargo.
Meyer launched his coaching career at Memphis, where he spent one season as a graduate assistant (1997) and one working with former CSU coach Dave Magazu and the Tigers' offensive line and tight ends (1998). He then spent and one and a half years in the Tigers' strength and conditioning department, including five months as the director, from January-May of 2000.
One of several current coaches who played at Colorado State, Meyer was a four-year letterman (1991-94). Considered one of the WAC's most consistent offensive linemen, he earned all-conference honors three straight years, including first-team accolades in 1994. He also was an Academic All-American in '94.
During that senior year, he helped the Rams to a Holiday Bowl berth opposite Michigan in one of the most memorable seasons in program history. CSU depended on him to start at three positions during his career, and he started for four seasons. He also was a team captain in 1994.
He went on to sign with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals in the spring of 1995, then played for the St. Louis Stampede of the Arena Football League during the 1996 season.
An all-state selection and a four-year starter at Girard (Ohio) High School, Meyer was a five-sport letterman, participating in wrestling, basketball, baseball and track. Like athletic director Paul Kowalczyk (Warren), Meyer grew up in a suburb of Youngstown, Ohio.
Born April 5, 1972, in Youngstown, Ohio, Meyer and his wife, Erin, have three daughters, Christina, Emma and Sophia. His father, Angelo, played football at Nebraska. Meyer earned his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from CSU in 1995, and has completed courses toward a master's degree in educational leadership.
