New OL, Derek Dennis, could be just what Bears need?
Derek Dennis didn’t start playing football until he was a junior in high school. He ended up playing in 49 games in his career at Temple University. He earned 36 starts on the offensive line, and was signed by the Miami Dolphins after the NFL Draft. He recently just signed a futures’ contract with the Bears. Dennis talks about what it was like to be shown on the first episode of 2012 Miami Dolphins HBO’s Hard Knocks! Make sure you check it out, enjoy reading the first interview back from a little break. It’s worth a read.

He's the exact opposite of what we need. We need legit, top tier, ready-to-go talent that can contribute with an impact IMMEDIATELY. Not more UDFA long shots.

Yep the time for gambling on lineman is over. Even when it pays off the payoffs are small and the time consumed too great. This offseason we need to upgrade where we can in FA and add a top pick to the pile and let Kromer sort these guys out. I'm tired of this "I'll play my 5 best" when half of them couldn't start anywhere else in the NFL.
I'm convinced that we'll get better play from some of those guys with better coaching and a better system but we need talent up grades at at least two or three positions and that should be the thrust in this offseason. There are some decent UFAs to pursue and there are some decent lineman in this draft so it's time to get better fast.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

We'll see what happens. I tend to agree. The Bears should just draft a bunch of OL that fit the system. Hopefully Trestman will find the right men for the system.

That's what I am hoping. Better coaching of what we have, and adding some better talent to the mix also.
I'm tired of the pixie dust hype and "Hester Packages" promised. I want to see coaches who actually DELIVER the goods. No more "gurus" but guys who can put a solid product on the field.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Try to remember not every player the Bears pick up is being signed to a starting job, we still need good backs to go along with our starters.
My second point is these are not the same Offensive coaches maybe they know what there looking for in players.

I agree. Versatility in depth is key. especially for OL. Can't have 10 OL on a team. Well, maybe, but it's up to depth.

I think I'll apologize and say that we appreciate you taking the time to post that interview and give us some exposure to your website. I'll explore it in more depth later.
I believe our responses are rooted in our frustrations with a roster of lineman too much like Derek Dennis. Maybe he can play and maybe he can't but two teams have released him already and that doesn't exactly fill us with confidence that he can earn a spot on the Bears roster and what we need right now are guys who can and perform well after the do.
We've just seen so many Derek Dennis' come though here in 10 years that we may be overly skeptical because we're kind of fed up with it. But thank you again for talking the time to post it. If the kid makes the team we'll remember we heard it here first.

We need proven guys to start ASAP and not more UDFA.
