Most of us, including myself, see very little, if any trade value in Devin at this point. However, once you get into the 3rd round and beyond, teams are willing to take gambles on proven vets. I can't see it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see one of the 31 other teams take a chance with a draft pick for him. I say if we could get a 3rd, 4th or even a high 5th, let him go. Beyond that, let him play out his contract as a Returner only and see if he can get back to his former self. Devin Hester is almost exclusively the reason we went to the SB in 2006, without him, we may not have even made the playoffs, so it's worth one more year to see if he can get his mind right and get close to that Devin again, but I still take the draft pick if someone is willing.
Record-owning professional football playing millionnaire seeks national attention during a personal crisis by crossing arms, holding breath and pouting until sense of entitlement is fulfilled. Film on EPSN every 20 minutes.
But....so what? Anything we could get for him would be gravy on top of saving $2.1 million in cap space that could be better used elsewhere. Take anything.
good luck finding a team willing to give something of value for you :lol-032:
Ya know if Knox were healthy, no one would be saying to keep him another year. Even so, I hope we keep him, but, like Urlacher (unless they have amazing years) have a replacement waiting in the wings for the following year. Honestly, if Emery spent a 4th or 5th on a WR, and they cut him, I'd be fine with it after a short while.
Geez Devin, if you want to play more then learn how to get open more often and to catch the ball when it comes your way. YOU'RE the main reason you aren't playing more, not anyone else.
He's not awfully bright if he thinks he has a lot of trade value or that other teams see any more real potential in him as a WR than we do. On any other team he'd be no more than a #4 WR and Return Specialist too. And the idea of converting him to CB is ludicrous. We don't play much man coverage to begin with and he'd be a disaster in zone coverage. IMHO he doesn't know the schemes well enough to make that conversion. We tried that once before.
Devin just needs to stop pouting because his champions have all left him. He's a HOF Return Man and that's where he needs to start focusing his attention again and earn his keep in 2013. Then he becomes a FA and if he thinks anybody is gonna give him a big new shiny contract unless he does start getting "ridiculous" again I think he's kidding himself.
I hear an agent talking through him here who's looking to get him an extension the Bears aren't gonna give him . Who represents him anyway, Rosenhaus?
