They are Jimmors ... what the fuck are WE going to do about it?
I kind of noticed that THEY went to a SUPERBOWL ... and you may have noticed ... we didnt.
That should be a minor clue right there. SFO is a new team.
Do you want to face these fuckers in the playoffs without a revamped BEARS team in the future ?

Coaches have to be able to relate to these kids coming out of college and figure out the way they learn best. There are not a lot of Peyton Manning's coming out. Development is the #1 trait that I hope to see from the coaching staff. (game planning and scheme are important too)
Very well said. It took Manning about 4 years before he locked down that SS spot and he continues to do well in Houston. I was about ready to suggest they kick Wright to the curb for all of his missed tackles until 2011 when all of a sudden he became a very good ball player and a bit of a ball hawk.
We know that it takes about three years to fully develop in NFL LT. I think in Webb's case that had he not been forced to play those first two years and only started for the first time last year we'd probably have been a little more generous with our acceptance of him.
I'm not at all a Webb fan. I think his stupid social networking and his Webb Nation bullshit detract from his play and show lack of maturity but if he does eventually learn how to play LT in the NFL I'll be more than happy to change my opinion of him no matter what he does in his free time.
But right now I'm just being pragmatic where he's concerned. If he'll buckle up and play football right we can use him period.

Don't say that. Next he'll want his own Campbells Soup commercials.

Unfortunately, there are many, many more where the light bulb showed up broken, and a lot of fans don't have the patience to find out. The thing is, that line between "lets give him one more year" and "let him fish or cut bait" is a fine one that the typical fan doesn't care about. I'd like to think those of us on this board are sophisticated enough to see traits that give us hope or say "He's never gonna get it". Not that we are experts, but more so than your typical Sunday's Only fan.
My opinion on Webb has changed slightly since the end of this season (and I do mean, slightly). And it has ONLY changed because of the arrival of Trestman and Kromer. Lovie and Tice were NEVER going to get anything out of this guy and I think he showed just enough to give him one more TC to see if he can grasp what the hell he's supposed to do, but man, that leash should be shooooooooort.
I think the thing that drive me so NUTS about fans and media (including the original article to this thread), is that so many say he is so quick and athletic for his size. To that I say no, no he is not! It's one of my pet peaves that people hear something that for some reason they like and they continue to repeat it as though it's fact when there is no truth to what they say. It's like the old saying that if you tell the same lie long enough and often enough (see both sides of American politics), people will start to believe it. If he is so athletic and quick for his size, then he must be 7' and weight 380 Lbs., and if that's the case, then he's too damn big to play the position. If he DOES actually have that kind of athleticism and quickness, then he needs to show it every play and not just once every three games.
I am hopeful that Kromer will be able to coach up ALL our linemen and not just WEBB, and if he can, then great, but if not, I am so done with just about ALL these guys.
I think this hits the nail on the head. He was an offensive player so Lovie little or nothing to intercede and to Tice he was his mission. His holy grail of coaching. Like turning this 7th round pick into a Pro Bowl LT was something to put on his resume and carry with him in his back pocket for the future. Bad moves by both.
And that's the other key. Where is this legendary HOF strength and athleticism we heard so much about. It does no good to anyone if it's left in the weight room or the practice field. If he can bring it on game day then it's about time he did. Every week.

Pretty sure the 9ers have been around for quite awhile now. In fact, think they won a few superbowls before iirc.

I really don't care if Webb is left as the starting LT next season, IF there are moves made on the interior. I understand that we cannot possibly realistically hope for five new pro-bowl quality offensive linemen. One would be nice, and a rook or two for development sake. That was more than we could ever get out of that worthless asshat JA. If that FA is a guard or center, okay. We have to deal with Webb, chip and help out on that side when necessary, but the line will still be better than last year. If they do nothing to improve the line, there is a pretty good chance that someone will go postal.
Prolly me.
Are there any leftover from last season? Ah they'd just be all stale, dried out and hard anyway.
Speaking of dicks..... I mean decks. Has anyone watched this video?

somehow, I think he deserves another chance and BATTLE for a roster spot. We should bring in a servicable LT - not a Clady or Albert or Bushrod - to battle it out with Webb. Loser ends up as Swingtackle or LT backup only.
Webb has the size Trestman prefers. Just look at his OL players in Montreal and you see that the always prefered the bigger and taller guys.
If we can fix the LG spot, this may help Webb big time.
If we draft Warmack or Cooper as LG, I think they would need a LT that knows how to play this position and this would help the rookie LG for sure.
I'm happy that I'm not Trestman/Kromer/Emery and have to make those decisions.
Bushrod - Cooper - (Garza) - Louis - Webb/Carimi
that line looks much better than last years

All I know is that The Ravens do not win the Superbowl with Micheal Oher at Left Tackle.
The Ravens put Oher over on the right and brought Bryant McKinnie off the Bench to play Left Tackle very late in the season. They were on a downward slide and seem to turn a corner once the fired Cam Cameron and put McKinnie at left.
Without these moves they do not beat Denver to get to the AFC Championship, or New England or San Fransico.
Do we honestly think that we could beat Denver, New England and San Fran with Webb at LT? If the answer is even "maybe not" then we need a new LT.
I don't believe we can win a Championship with Webb at LT. And if that means giving away 2 first rounders to get Fisher or Joeckel then do it!
If we go into the season with Webb starting then we will do what we do every year, win against the lesser teams and put ourselves out of position in the draft to get anyone that can help this team.
For me it is Fix the LT position or Bust.
