Howdi all, quick post of something I just online. Ogletree just got a DUI recently and has also not been trouble free off the field. If we did for some reason goo lB with the 20th pick would he be worth it now? I don't know about the off-field issues thought.

Ogletree declared for the draft immediately after the Bulldogs beat Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl in January. After totaling a team-high 13 tackles, three tackles for a loss, a sack and forcing a fumble that he also recovered against the Cornhuskers, the junior finished the season with 111 tackles and 11.5 tackles for a loss in just 10 games.
ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has Ogletree getting taken with the No. 8 overall pick in his latest mock draft, calling the 6-foot-3, 237-pounder "a great pursuit player and a guy who will shoot gaps and make stops in the backfield." Fellow ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay has Ogletree going with the 19th pick in his latest mock draft.
The DUI arrest, though, could alter teams' thinking, especially since this is not the first time Ogletree has had trouble off the field.

Ogletree, who played safety as a freshman before shifting to linebacker as a sophomore, missed Georgia's first four games this past season after failing drug tests during spring practice.

Man, I am always willing to forgive a mistake, but when they begin to show up as multiples, I start wondering what these kids are thinking. I can say that I wasn't perfect when I was 20-21 either, but I didn't have millions on the line. I also knew if my rope was already short, I wasn't going to cut anymore off. Not very smart Alec.

I don't know. I smell trouble all around this guy. He may have the skills to play for the Bears but character and common sense are huge at the next level and he seems a little short on both.

One mistake I can see but unless this last one wakes him up for good because he may be costing himself millions he's just one day away from his next screw up. I guess you'd have to see how the kid interviews to get a real read on him.

I'd say "pass" on this guy now, rather than die a slow death with off the field issues later. A DUI can happen, but drug issues as well as this, makes you think twice about drafting him. It's kind of like drafting a guy with a lot of injury issues. Drafting guys is risky enough without taking on additional risk factors IMHO.

Get a guy that doesn't have obvious risk factors.

I understand completely what you are saying. However, this is like depending on UDFA to restock your starting Offensive Line, for every one success story, there are 10 failures. When millions are on the line, it's prudent to follow the "rule" rather than the "exception to the rule". Obviously, if there are extenuating circumstances that you discover, perhaps the exceptions can be made, but...

I agree completely. I would also add the fact, that to us right now, with so many vital roster holes to fill, our 1st round draft pick is absolutely precious. Why on earth would we gamble with it?

Yeah sox but Carl Nicks was a 5th round pick not a first round pick. If we could get Ogletree in the 5th I take that deal any day but in the first? No.
