Packers to cut Charles Woodson - Should Bears take a look?
I'm on my phone so I can't play the link, but there's a story on ESPN that the Packers have told his agent they are releasing him. He's 36 and has been playing safety the past two years. He's a sack of crap, but I think he's still an effective player. Should the Bears take a look if his salary demands aren't too high?
A few year ago this would have been a good move but I think were set as safety. Hard to believe they released him just based on salary. If our D was in a total rebuild I could see us taking a hard look at him but not now.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
His age and probable salary demands say no. We're young and deep at Safety and I don't think we'll even give it a sniff. We need to use what cap $$$ we have more effectively than this.
We already do a pretty good job of preventing scores. We need to find ways to make a few more of our own and Woodson can't help with that. Pass.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.
Woodson has a knack for intercepting the ball, which Conte doesn't. I'd take him for a year, if the price were right (probably won't be), as he'd be an upgrade over everyone else, and if he got hurt, Conte isn't a horrible backup. Plus, no one really knows how much gas Urlacher, Peppers, Tillman and Briggs will have left, or if McClellan will prove himself. In all likelihood, not gonna happen, but if our D were to start showing its age earlier, he'd help out immensely.
