These two wideouts could be on our radar in the first round. Both have great potential and would fit nicely in our system. There is an interesting analysis of the pair below in the PAC 12 combine preview. What do you think, good fits?
Down at the One
No WRs in rounds one or two. With Marshall, Jeffery and Bennett there's just no way to justify spending a top pick on a WR. We need blockers far more than we do pass catchers.
If we can strengthen the TE spot in FA and start throwing to Forte and Bush again we'll have more than enough quality pass catchers. The kid we brought in to play STeams from the PS Joe Anderson looks like he has some talent and maybe I'd look for a speed type guy in the later rounds but that's it.

No, they shouldn't. We've already got a #1 receiver and we drafted Jeffery in the second round last season. There are way too many holes to fill, we don't need a WR in the first two rounds of the draft. LT, C, LG, TE, MLB are much more important than a third receiver.
Draft one in the fourth round (Arkansas' Cobi Hamilton, Georgia's Tavarres King or Kansas State's Chris Harper) or try to sign a young FA (Miami's Brian Hartline or Dallas' Kevin Ogletree).
Let's not go all Det Lions by constantly drafting WR's. Much like elite RB's, when's the last time an "elite" WR won a SB?
I agree w/Soul on this one, get a late speed guy w/"potential".
Need OL help, need MLB help, need TE help, and DB help also, that's minimum and that pretty much swallows the draft picks and FA this year.
I agree with you and Soul. No need to consider WR before the 4th or later. I'd like to pick up a burner type Knox replacement who could stretch the field a bit and maybe be viable return option behind Hester (assuming he gets over his funk and stays). Sox pointed out a guy he liked named Josh Boyce from TCU who's projected back half and looks ideal.Quote:

TE help should be from FA. There's a number of youngish vets who look to be available this year and FA TEs aren't nearly as expensive as other positions tend to be. That's the best way to get someone who can contribute substantially in his 1st year with the Bears. I have no problem with considering a tight end in the late draft for development but not higher than that. FA + ERod (receivers) + Spaeth (blocker) is sufficient. Maybe Adams or a late draftee thrown in the mix as well. Not a high draft priority IMO given the FAs available and moving ERod back into the passing game more.
The only thing I disagree with is drafting a DB. That's very low priority to me. We are set finally at safety with 2 quality starters and depth options in Steltz, Walters, and Hardin. We also have 2 pro bowl corners and depth/nickel options with Hayden, McMannis, Bowman, and Frey. I'd much rather re-sign our own guys there and save draft picks for more pressing needs.
