I like the idea of a slot guy pickup but no one for the right price sticks out to me
Most certainly we can adress TE in that case
Actually there is one OG I'd love to sign. Buffalo's Andy Levitre is an unrestricted FA and one of the most underrated Guards in the league.
Levitre’s ability in pass protection at both guard and tackle cannot be questioned. Over the last two seasons whether you look at our grades (+15.1) or the stats (35 total pressures allowed), he is amongst the elite pass protectors at guard. Combined with clear improvements in his in-line run blocking, and his consistent quality blocking in space, Levitre could become the LG we've all been waiting for.
During his career in Buffalo, Levitre has been a stud at left guard. He was asked to fill in at left tackle when Demetress Bell went down with injury, and he never missed a beat, playing a more than adequate left tackle. He was pressed into emergency service at center when the Bills were short-handed after Eric Wood went down. It is safe to say that center is not the position where you want to use Levitre.
Levitre is 6'2" tall and weighs 305 pounds. He is just 26 years old and is entering his prime years.

I agree. If we don't spend $$ on a FA LT then my 2 top FA targets would be Levitre and Myers (TE). That combo would probably cost about as much as an LT I would think.

I love the tench play and know who he is but I had no idea he is a free agent
Honestly I would be content with picking up him, drafting jones and then a tackle at 2-4 whoever we see a
Good value pick for a dev/backup guy
It's another option that would greatly bolster our oline, but I do think passing on cooper would be very tough to do if he was on the board at 20

If on the other hand, the new staff figures that Webb is a worthless player. And not even a decent backup. Then we're in a fix.
That's why I'm not being stubborn on the Webb issue. If they end up thinking he's decent, I'll forget all the pain and anger & be thankful he eventually did pan out ok - even if it's just as a backup. Because the alternative is a big hole to overcome. Hope and pray the big goofy guy DOES work out this year.

Are the Chiefs' fans delusional or is Albert overrated? Here is what I saw posted on another board by a Chief fan and others in relation to this comment seem to agree:
Hope you're right about Joekel being the 1st pick in the draft. Albert has been given more than enough time to prove himself, and in my mind, he has not. I place a large burden of Cassell's problems last season on Albert since it was Cassell having to run for his life because of a collapsing left side of the line. People are giving Albert too much credit where it is not deserved. I kept an open mind about Albert's performance to prove to he was solid at his position, and what I saw did not impress me.

I don't know about all that but the same mantra of excuses keep coming up on a yearly basis:
Webb improved (slightly) give him yet another season
We don't have a top 5 pick to get a LT
FA market is not right
Will take years to develop another LT etc, etc.
We will stay in this repetitive definition of insanity if we don't start now either grooming another LT or obtaining some legitimate competition via FA.

That's a good point.
I had one other crazy thought. If (and I know it's a big if) some team believes Webb is decent like some of these scouting guys say - then maybe we could get a somewhat decent draft pick for the guy. If the Bears want to move on from him, and a team is willing to give us a mid round pick for him, then maybe we take that and run with it.....and pay for a guy like Bushrod in FA, and draft another Webb type project.
But then again, we're back to square 1.

Might be square one but the development of the position will be far different. I don't think we will see the on the job training at the expense of the team nor the lack of football I.Q. I believe we will see faster development. Improvement by leaps and perhaps bounds not just a few statistical spots with extreme scheming help. One way or another to get to the next level the position of LT has to evolve. Whomever the LT may be and not re-live this ineffective method of development again.

I was reading some articles posted on the NYGiants message board and it looks like they will apply their franchsie tag to Beatty.
Damn it. -_-

Well no more than I am lb but he didn't make it last year and 2013 was all that was being rated. Hell Jake Long has been a Pro Bowler several times as well and he didn't rank much higher last year than Webb or Bushrod either.
I think this one's Kromer's call. If there's anyone that would know what he's capable of and what he's not it would be him. I haven't looked into it very thoroughly and maybe I should. He may have been an alternate who was just the next guy in line when a couple of others declined. I'm not sure.
I think for me it's all about getting value and if we're gonna spend $6-$7 mil plus on a LT he damn well be a lot better than Webb and I'm just not sure Bushrod is.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
