I agree 100%

Carimi can play, and he will be a great OL player for us. He was an absolute stud for one of the top OL schools in the nation. And, he is the Outland Trophy winner, awarded to THE BEST offensive lineman in the nation. The guy's only crime was to get injured & forced to play before he was healthy. The guy was basically playing as a rookie, on one good leg.

Only Lovie Smith and Mike Tice would do such a stupid thing. Carimi will come back completely strong and healthy, and he'll anchor that RT slot for many years to come.

Carimi won't be playing gaurd next year. Simple as that. That would be the mike Tice magic crap we have tried

Have you ever looked at Trestman and Kromers past when it comes to the OL? They like Tackles playing as guard, having those big guys in the middle. Like I said before, it won't be a surprise to see Carimi as Guard.

Shea could end up as SLB or still DE - like Von Miller

I do agree Shea could move, not carimi tho, not yet at least

If he struggles again this year they may try to salvage him at gaurd but him at tackle and cooper at gaurd looks alot better

It doesn't do a thing to change my opinion that he'd struggle as an OG. For all I care he could say that he has upside as a blocking TE but that doesn't make him a good candidate. I stand by what I posted. A 6'7" 308lb lineman with a build like Carimi has is just not a typical OG type guy. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Carimi will stay at tackle IMO he plays better there and for at least this year we don't give up on him at tackle. Don't want to have another Cwill

just look at Trestmans past OLs... they had 6'7" / 6'8" guys playing interior. Everybody is entitled to his own opinion and it's all good talk.
One thing that points out to me most is you say he'd struggle as OG... he has already proven that he DOES struggle as RT too. I think with his footwork and athletic abitlity he would make a great OG. We also shouldn't care about "typical type" players. We are different. Trestman is different. Kromer is different. It's also not me saying he should Guard, it's Kromer and Emery that mentioned it. They said he has upside as OG and/or OT.

Hot rumors starting to heat about the 49s having a deal in place to trade Alex Smith and the favorite team to land his services are the Chiefs. Why is this important or relevant?
Because if their QB situation is now taken care of then they can focus on using their top pick on a LT, presumably Luke Joekel. That possibly frees up Albert to hit free agency and gives the Bears a slim opportunity to think about their small CAP space and make a run at him. Dunno just throwing this out there for consumption and opinions.

so it's not official, both clubs view it at as it's effectively done. I do not know the other team. KC and JAX are 2 teams that make sense

Bushrod is better than Webb. The PFF rankings are skewed because Bushrod had 200 more pass attempts and in that process allowed 4 less sacks in those 200 attempts. Bushrod is a consistent LT in a pass happy attack and he does not have the meltdown games that Webb has.

That being said Bushrod is not an elite LT and to pay him more than average OT money is a mistake.

The best part about Bushrod is that it allows you to move Webb to RT where I think we will be better without the pressure of LT.

RT: Carimi/Scott 3/10

LT: Bushrod 7/10
RT" Webb 7/10

It is cost effective improvement.

Interesting, what would you purpose with Carimi then? Swing tackle or try to make an OG out of him?

Carimi at og doesn't seem to work for me, he had issues with power and strength (partly due to the knee) and that won't bode well inside
