Or do you think it's still a bad pick?
He would be an amazing pick with our second. Problem is, a smart team like Baltimore will have already snatched him up while TMZ is shocked he still went in the first because on-the-field performance, great talent and otherwise impressive leadership and dedication to stay at ND all four years are all less important than the way he handled a crazy stalker.

I don't think it would be much of a distraction by the time week 1 rolled around. It's the NFL. Ray Lewis was turned from a murder into a "warrior" and one of the faces of the league. He went twelve years between SB XXXV to XLVII without being asked questions about him stabbing two people, so once Te'o says "that's in the past" for the fifth time, I think the media will move on. Rival teams' message board snark will not move on, however.

Yeah, I'm just hoping we maximize the talent we bring in, and get the "most bang" for our picks. If there's any "value" picks then I'm fine with his off-field thing. It's pretty mild compared to a lot of stuff we see. As long as he doesn't bring an "inflatable doll" to the games, it's fine by me (heck, if he can play solid for us, I'd be fine with the doll too).

Actually its the way he did handle a crazy stalker. Do I want this guys NFL playbook in his hands ? Fuck no.
Let's see this guy get some action around the League first. This guy is either a flake or a retard ... either way,it doesnt fit CHICAGO BEARS until later rounds.

I think that's the way most GM's will view it. The #1 factor is how good he is. If he's a pretender then it doesn't matter if he's a choir boy. If, on the other hand, he can play at a high level, then what he did is just not that big of a deal. Like you said, he didn't kill people, or even shoot anyone - or sell drugs like our boy.

(besides against Alabama) ...and Alabama isn't as good as NFL squads.

I don't buy Te'o at all as far as the Bears needs go. He's not the fit we need. NFP has him going to the Ravens @ #32 and there I think he would be a good fit but not for us. If he wasn't a "Domer" I doubt they'd even be calling this a match.

Yeah if we ignore the off the field crap and focus on play
Jones, Warmack, and Lacey kicked his teeth down his throat the entire game
The only thing more fabricated than his g/f is this illusion that he is a first round pick
Soul hit it dead on, if it Weren't for the mistique of nd and their title run I don't think we would be discussing this at 20

a great fit for defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and the Bears’ Tampa-2 scheme.
His only knock is his speed
I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

yes please. Te'o at #20 would be great value. OL won't help us much at that pick. Won't fix the LT via draft and OC will not get drafted in the 1st round. Still have Cooper or maybe even Warmack, but there is a lot of depth in the Draft when it comes to OL.
Still talk about that Bama game? Ever thought about that Te'o has had no help all game long? he was bad, but still better than his teammates. In all the other games, he was great.
