Fair enough that you view it intangibly, but no one here is saying we should get Te'o at all costs, merely that if FA works right, he'd be an excellent choice. Also, Johnson had a worse championship game than Te'o, playing worse talent (ND)

That's fine by me, until recently I never saw or read much about cooper. Now that I have I'd like that pick just as much if not more than jones for that reason alone.
LG/C both need to be addressed, as long as we really nail down one with a great prospect I'm all for it
What I'm not for is falling vicitim to the ND crap hype that is there with one player every year. They always have a "can't miss" guy or "the next big thing" pretty sure the bus was the last one to pan out.
T'eo is overrated, overhyped, and a late 2nd round pick in my opinion. He would not be any better than roach, and benifited from the fact that ND plays a cupcake schedule. We saw what he looked like against the bama front and Lacey, and although they will be solid players as rookies, they are no pro bowlers he will see come September.
With that said anyone wanting a defensive player is delusional. We have proved over the last 10 years that anymore, defense does not win championships. Not with a neglected and incompetent offense anyways. Our defense is good with or without Urlacher. With or without a new prodigie. Maybe we hit it big on a LB in the mid-late rounds, maybe we wait till next year, or maybe he is currently on the team. However it may fall into place I want to see the bears win
Championships, I want to see the bears beat the fackers. Not draft some
Overrated "domer" to fill seats and get media coverage, because that's about all he would be good for.
Well, the Bears have interest in Te'o. Don't say it's a smokescreen, because it could easily be to look at Urlacher's replacement.
In my opinion we HAVE to go O-line in the first round, and maybe also in the second. Picking up O-lineman late in the draft hasn't been working out that well for us. We don't need a 2 year player who will just be released, we need a 10 year starter, and you find those early in the draft. I could see getting a TE, but neither Ertz nor Eifert are worthy of being picked that high IMO.
I don't want to see Te'o in a Bears uniform. The guy has decent speed but he's just undersized and got stomped the one time he played an NFL-style team. Not only was he getting run over, but he was missing tackles and making wrong guesses about which holes to cover. Plus, the ensuing media circus would be annoying. I say we go Cooper and then trade up for Barrett Jones. Webb-Cooper-Jones-Louis-Carimi/Scott could do some damage, although knowing the Bears, that's probably just a wet dream.
He had 10 tackles that game. If he missed a couple, that's nothing I would complain about.
7 of which were assisted. And he darn well better have that many tackles considering the position he plays and the amount of total offense that was generated by Alabama. He's still undersized and if we were to take a LB, I'd pick Ogletree over Te'o. He's on the smaller side too, but has a frame that seems like it'd be easy to grow into.
Then the whole not having a negative media circus about it would be optimal, too.
But either way, I disagree about taking a LB in the first round. I think we need to focus on O-line depending on what we can get in FA.
Ok, bama ran for 265 on 45 attempts with a 5.9 ypc average. Te'o had 3 solo 7 assist so 10 is a bit misleading because if you watch the game closely (I have it on DVR) he did alot of pile diving 0 tackles were made for no gain or loss
Also what you will notice is how many long runs were given up because he wasn't even in position to make a tackle, weather it be being killed by bamas front or diving into the wrong hole
Any way you slice it, it shows he was facing superior players. Period. He dosent belong among them come draft day
As for you smokescreen comment
I would contend that it very well could be a smokescreen (lane Johnson too possibly if we don't get a FA g)
Ok let's pretend your emery
And let's just say you have your eye set on Warmack or Cooper (I suspect this is the logical case)
Wouldn't you want to draw interest from other teams to them? Maybe we sucker stl into taking a closer look. It would help our cause to talk these guys up to...
1. Raise the probability of Warmack falling unexpected
2. Ensure nobody snags Cooper also
It would be a great hoax by emery!!
I think this debate will be all but resolved by Teo's combine time. If he cant run low 4.6s at least then he's not a 1st round consideration for us IMO. That's the bare minimum.
If Te'o were the Bear's pick in the first round, I would be pissed. Not because of who he is, or what kind of player, and certainly not because I give a flying dog sh!t about his fake girlfriend, but because of his position/side of the ball.
Lots of people played poorly against 'Bama this season (and last for that matter) it is not like Te'o played at some backwater institution against the "little sisters of the poor", there is plenty of tape available of him against some quality teams, including Michigan, Mich. St., Oklahoma, etc. (I am not including USC cuz f#ck them, that's why) He will be a very good player in the NFL, and the reactions of the coaches/scouts I have heard from the combine indicate that most are in agreement with me.
I just would like the Bears to focus on the offense- O line in particular. Good luck Te'o, unless you go to minny or the fudge packers, in which case I hope you have a short and less than distinguished career.
