Again, the 49ers have to get rid of a lot of their picks, because most of their team is under contract/not going anywhere. 14 draft picks is too much roster change for a team like that, so they need to get rid of some of those picks, the higher quality, the better. We stand in the position of offering the best deal based on points (which is what the NFL uses) and need more picks because our roster turnover is going to be much greater than theirs. Will it happen? Probably not. Is it realistic? Absolutely.

I wouldn't want to make that deal if I was the Bears GM. I've got solid top 20 picks in both rounds one and two and I know we can get two starters with those picks. Trading back sets me up to take the 4th or 5th best guy at a give position as opposed to the 2nd or 3rd best guy and in some cases the drop off is huge.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

But, everyone acknowledges this is a deep draft to get offensive linemen. With 2 additional 3rd round picks, Emery would have an easier case to make with the public in case he needs to justify taking a TE or LB with one of the first two picks.

Deep to a certain degree but take a look at some of the pre-Combine rating Henry. Naturally these may change a bit after the Combine but I don't think all that much with this bunch. There aren't any real shockers here who might zoom up the list.
There's still a limited amount of first and second round talent at the positions we need most. We need at least one starter at LG and the best way to get one is to stay put for a shot at Warmack or Cooper and then trust to luck that maybe we get a shot at Jones in two.
Because the OC depth both in FA and the draft is thin I expect he may go higher than he's rated. If he's taken then there may be one or two of the OTs left. Pugh might be a nice pick in the second if Jones is gone or possibly a guy like Frederick.
OGs
For instance Warmack grades @ 8.4 and Cooper @ 8.0. NFP; 8.0-8.4: Highly productive starting player. First round selection.
Warford is next @ 6.3. NFP; 6.0-6.4: Solid starter/very productive backup. Third round selection.
The rest grade out @ 6.0 or less so they're late third or later picks who may be questionable starters day one.
OCs
Jones grades @ 7.5. NFP; 7.0-7.9: Very good starting player. Second round selection.
Fredrick is next @ 6.0. NFP; 6.0-6.4: Solid starter/very productive backup. Third round selection. Then Kahled @ 5.7. NFP; 5.5-5.9: Very good backup and very good special teams player. Fourth round selection.
OTs (I've eliminated the guys who should go before #20)
Aboushi grades @ 7.9, Fluker @ 7.5, and Pugh @ 7.4. NFP; 7.0-7.9: Very good starting player. Second round selection.
Wagner grades @ 6.5 (and that may be generous). NFP; 6.5-6.9: Very good starting player. Third round selection. Kyle Long grades @ 5.9. NFP; 5.5-5.9: Very good backup and very good special teams player. Fourth round selection.
I can't see a justification for taking a LB or a TE that high this year. LG is a bigger need. Maybe if we miss on any OL we might take in one he trades down for a TE but not if our guy is there. As far as LB goes as it stands there's better far depth at LB than there is at LG, OC, or OT but I would rule out a LB in the second since we don't have a third if Emery is content with the OTs we have.
To me this just goes back to the JA system of passing on better players in exchange for more middle round players who may or may not be difference makers. We need two very good picks this year and I still believe the way to get 'em is to stand pat. At least in the first round.

with all the holes we have and the little Cap Space we have to sign players that will improve us... I would say yes. Would get ILB, OL, TE in rounds 1-3 with an additional pick to go BPA

As it stands we don't have a third G. That went to Miami for Marshall.

right, but in this case I would have agreed to the trade to get those 3rd round picks ;)

Not to be the devil's advocate here, but generally the team moving up (SF) gives up more points than they receive. As HB had it layed out, SF would give up less points than we would......and that was before he realized we had the 18th pick instead of the 20th.

Easily you can pop on this deal. The 3rd is a great place to grab a top 5 C, and a top 5-10 LG this year(if you go by Walter footall), and historically the elite C's/LG's go this deep in the draft if not deeper. That's not to say you cannot don't grab one in the 1st or 2nd, but you can still get good C's/LG's in the very late 1st/2nd also.
Not only does this allow you to attack the needs you have on OL and MLB, but it also allows you to grab depth players w/those 3rd's also(if you go after LG/C in rounds 1/2. This team is not just an OL away from a SB, there are problems w/the depth as we've seen the last two years and the extra picks would do wonders for the Bears.
If Bearstuff is also correct and the Bears can get even more, even better. Unlike SF, the Bears can use as many draft picks as they can get their hands on; and moving backin the 1st and 2nd doesn't hurt their ability to get what they need.
