If the 49ers has Cutler instead of Kaepernick, the 49ers win that game. Not saying Cutler is a top-3 or 4 qb, but if you have an offensive line with that talent and Cutler's abilities, there is no way the Ravens could stop the 49er's offense.

LOL, that's the first thing that crossed my mind too although in this case we may do a little better. He's just another guy like Rachal we might pickup if the price is right and see if we can resurrect him from the failed draft choice grave yard.

My guess is that he may shop around for a while to see what kind of offers he can get. If Emery signed him I'm thinking it would be for short money.

As long as he's not expected to play tackle, okay. Sox seems to think he's a good candidate for transition to guard, which I would be alright with. I seem to recall him being a horrible tackle.

We seem to specialize in that so he should fit right in. :rofl2:

when we have no risk with it, I'd say yes and give him a chance. It's either battle for the LT spot in Training Camp or convert to LG. Could give us options. He has talent, just is a big bust ;)

I don't see any down side to it, as long as we don't have to invest much money, and I'll bet we can sign him very reasonably since he's trying to fight for his NFL life right now.

One other thought. This is just one countless examples, of a "Sure Thing" coming out of college, ending up a bust. Every year that I can remember, there's always the fans, sports media guys, telling us that certain players are the "Sure Thing" and that they can't miss.

But - we see busts every year. Even Heisman winners. Even 1st overall picks of the draft. It's amazing how many of them bite the dust. Yet every year we still see the same claims of can't miss. Some guys turn out like Indy's Luck, while other teams grab a guy like Jamarcus Russel.

That's why I'm sure hoping Emery lives up to his reputation as a solid evaluator of talent. If you have that, coupled with a rock solid financial wizard, who can keep us out of cap hell, then that's half the battle right there. Then let Trestman do the rest with the coaching staff.

Raiders were stupid and reached big time.... can't compare it with others IMO

Now is the time to look at any OL'men to create depth and hopefully find a steal. Failures on one team might have been b/c of a lack of coaching, a big head(sometimes burst by being cut), a lack of talent, a bad scheme fit, or any number of the above. It's not automatic he's just not good enough to play.

It also doesn't mean the team should overpay or get into a bidding war for someone like this also. if it's the right price no issue at all.
