I've often thought Cutler landed in hell - quarterback hell - when he came to Chicago. When he first got here, I was (truthfully) amazed by how patient he was. But it's like that "good natured dog" that gets the crap beaten out of him time-and-time again. At some point the dog gets mighty mean. Bites back. Jay's at that "mean dog" stage right now.

I'm thinking he'll be like one of those strays that gets "adopted" by a nice family - now that Trestman is here, and he'll be very appreciative. Maybe not a lap dog, but appreciative :smile:

No way. Lap dog isn't Jay's style. Having a healthy swagger isn't a problem, but he needs to earn it. I don't think that a player should be disrespectful, but this is a give and take thing. The coaches have given Jay the lip service, but have not respected his input too much (hence the lack of O-line and weapons for almost all of his career here). Let's evaluate his attitude after he has a competent supporting cast.

I rarely like his takes, I tend to take most of what he says/does w/a grain of salt...but w/something like this I tend to agree w/him. Cutler has no leverage w/the Coaches/GM anymore. They are not going anywhere this year or next year he's got to work with him; and that hasn't been that way his entire Bear career. He'll have to work with them if he wants to shine on the field earn his next contract as a Bear. I guarantee you there will be no "F U..." comments or walking away from the OC this year. Part of that will be b/c he's going to have a better OL and better O coaches, part of that will be b/c he knows this is a contract year.

I'm probably gonna save my doubts/strong dislike of Peter King for TBS, but that article was garbage, and I could've added those suggestions based off of my secret NFL connections (see: none). I understand that no coach is gonna put up with stupid crap, especially someone who's been waiting forever to be a HC, like Trestman. With that said, I believe that there will still be "incidents" just because this is what the media trained itself to look for from Cutler, but I think he got so much bad press last year over the Webb bump, that the higher end d*****baggery will come to an end. But like any other QB (see: Rivers, Manning((the good one), Brady, Rodgers), he's gonna have his heat of the moment argument with one of the offensive coaches when they have one of those inevitable beat downs that every team has every year.

EDIT: To add my 2 cents to what JABF said above this post, Jay Cutler was THE ONLY PLAYER to publicly not care that Lovie and company were fired. He was also one of the first to welcome Trestman, so I'm pretty sure he's liking the prospect of having a legit offense.

If my coach / OC was trying to get me killed with idiotic schemes and play calling I'd diss him too.

Lets see Tom Brady's list of accomplishments....sb's, mvp's, easily a top 5 qb...potentially one of the all time greats....

Let's not act as if either of those guys has ANYTHING in common other then their job title. It's like comparing the President of the USofA to the President of Albania. ya both are presidents...but they really don't do the same job.

1st, PK has been reporting on the NFL since 85, to act like he has NO sources compared to some internet fanboy is ludicrous. You don't last in any business, ecspecially news for going on 30 years w/out knowing people inside the business.

2nd stop blaming the media for Cutlers problems; it's like Barry Bonds, you treat people like dirt, ecspecially the media and they are going to hound you. Don't act like a douche and they'll leave you alone, give them what they want and they'll protect you as much as they can. Cutler acts like a dick, so the media hounds him, he doesn't care about his PR, his actions show that, then why should anyone else?

3rd, Cutler loved it when Martz first got here too, and that ended quickly and badly. He likes everything at first, but when things don't go the way he wants he gets moody quick. The point of this article was to say this new staff isn't going to take his BS; nor do they have to b/c he'll be gone well before they are if this doesn't work.

Let's be honest. The best thing about PK is the weekly fisking his MMQB gets by Ape at KSK.

Cutler was right after Tice let him down. Cutler was right after Webb let him down time after time after time.

The new coaches won't give Cutler a reason to do stuff like that.
