"Chicago Bears new coaches not going to 'take any crap' from Jay Cutler"

    Good read.

King: New staff not likely to put up with Cutler disrespect

Peter King: Trestman will instill confidence in the Bears

INDIANAPOLIS -- One lasting image of the 2012 season will be quarterback Jay Cutler twice shunning offensive coordinator Mike Tice on the sidelines during the Oct. 1 game in Dallas. Cutler walked away from Tice initially, sat on the bench, and then got up and walked away when Tice sat next to him to pursue the conversation. (Cutler claimed that he just wanted to go get a drink of water. Lovie Smith didn't buy it and called Cutler into his office for a private talking-to, a source told CSNChicago.com.)

If Cutler pulls that again this season, best guess is that he should probably just keep walking.

Peter King, longtime NFL expert for Sports Illustrated and member of the NBC Sports “Sunday Night Football” team, suggested that neither coach Marc Trestman nor quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh will put up with antics like disrespecting coaches or teammates.

“I think the one thing that players will like about Cavanaugh is that he doesn’t take any crap,” King told CSNChicago.com. “He’s going to be acerbic and he will sometimes out-tough Cutler in terms of his opinions about things. I thought that was a good match, someone who would go head-to-head with Jay a little bit.

“The fact that he’s tough and he’s not going to take any nonsense is probably a good thing, too.”

King’s conclusion, in addition to how he expects players to react to Trestman game plans: “This is going to be a fun team, because there’s going to be some transition.”

I think they will be less likely to take any crap b/c they don't have to. JA and Lovie were married to Cutler; Emery/Trestman are not. If the O fails this year, or more specifically if Cutler's game day decisions don't improve I could well see the team and fans saying it wasn't the coaches or GM this time. Goes back to the Bears aren't married to Cutler article. They are going to do everything they can to make him succeed, and if this year he doesn't that is on him and I could see them thinking it might be time to move on.

All that being said, if the OL is much improved and Trestman does work the magic he's had w/qb's in the past I don't see any of this being an issue and Cutler getting the contract extension most think he will.

Oh god, STFU Peter. I get you are having a slow news day, but for the love of god STFU. This is all conjecture, spinning a yarn off of perceived realities by idiot fans and media alike. Were he to say "This is why", it might be interesting, but he has failed to, and honestly, I don't give a shit. I could go through the whole list of QB's with attitudes, but if anyone forgot who the other QB's are, I suggest "looking them up", as this is a dead horse topic.

Yeah, but I bet Cutler has more respect for Cavanaugh in one pinky fingernail than he could ever dream of having for Tice. Or Martz. I think we'll see a different Cutler this year. Better coaches, better system, better play calling, and - hopefully - a much better o-line will help make it happen.

However, if Cutty does continue to show disrespect after all that, then I hope the door does hit him in the ass. Attitude is a big part of success. Look at Jimmy Mac. Not a great QB, but he had the attitude and got it done. Cutler shows flashes, but he needs to do it all the time, not just when it's easy.

Seriously, I'll get my sports news from Peter King when I decide that the old people that show up at gas stations and drink coffee WAY before sunrise are also good indicators of world news.

PK has a ton of relationships w/coaches and players in the NFL; ya what's he know.......You don't have to like him; or his takes but to act like he's some internet blogger w/no sources or credibility is simply inaccurate at it's base.

I rarely like his takes, I tend to take most of what he says/does w/a grain of salt...but w/something like this I tend to agree w/him. Cutler has no leverage w/the Coaches/GM anymore. They are not going anywhere this year or next year he's got to work with him; and that hasn't been that way his entire Bear career. He'll have to work with them if he wants to shine on the field earn his next contract as a Bear. I guarantee you there will be no "F U..." comments or walking away from the OC this year. Part of that will be b/c he's going to have a better OL and better O coaches, part of that will be b/c he knows this is a contract year.

    Excellent points.

I think Cutler got feisty when he landed here in Chicago and found that he had zero weapons on offense. He had a clueless coach, OC, not a single WR who was a true #1 NFL caliber WR, no offensive line - and the one guy who could catch a football (receiving TE Greg Olsen) they ran out of here because they didn't "believe" in using receiving TE's. They threw a new OC at him most years, or every other year (each one crazier than the last one)....... I can see how this would make a guy a bit snarly.

I'm not saying it's all "OK" and he should throw his weight around. But I do see some mitigating circumstances here.

If the new regime fixes the things broken on offense, then there's no reason for Cutler to raise his hackles.

Let's be honest, do we really think that he would have the exact same attitude if he had been given everything (or perhaps even some things) that he needed to succeed? Sure, he has Marshall, but he has had him for one season! Let's give him a competent O-line too and better play calling before we start saying how he will act. I know that I'd be pretty peeved too if I was in his position.

My guess is once he has a decent O-Line he won't be nearly as whiny. I kind of can't blame him too for being PO'ed at Martz and Tice.
