What are the odds that BOTH, Carimi & Webb, are solid starters this season at tackle?
What are the odds that BOTH, Carimi & Webb, are solid starters this season at tackle?
Lets see how FA pans out. If Scott comes back you are probably looking at Webb/Carimior rookie/Rookie/Louis/Scott as your starters, backups probably look like this: Brandon, Carimi or rookie, E Williams, Brown, Carimi/Brandon.
I belive Carimi can become a solid starter, Webb on the other hand.. I'm not so sure.
Webb will be solid, Carimi will play Guard or in case of injury Tackle.
Webb could end up as RT too
Webb has displayed more talent than Bust Gabe, but I would say neither.
Carimi won't play gaurd.
That being said he showed promise his little bit of his rookie year that he was healthy
I expect him to have a bounce back year. Webb is in a real make or break year so he's a wildcard IMO...hard to tell
I really believe Carimi will have a MUCH better season at RT this year. I think he'll have a solid career for the Bears. He was playing hurt & was green as a gourd last year....and it showed. But now that he's healthy, and has some starting playing time under his belt, he'll be fine. We'll all be glad we've got him.
Webb, I don't know about. I'm hoping for the best, and that he'll up his game with better coaching. It sure would be fantastic to have him finally live up to the expectations. But who knows...
Frankly, I don't know. Carimi was just too damned good in a huge college program to have shown so badly last year. I really think that it was more than just youth and injury; I think Tice screwed this kid up, messing with technique, etc. So, if that premise is assumed for a moment to be valid, then the same could be said of Webb. Carimi showed some of the same problems Webb has shown, hesitation due to confusion, and Webb has had more time to be corrupted by Tice. It's possible they could both work out well with an O-Line coach that can straighten them out. One thing I know, Tice was supposed to be a guru for the O-Line, but ours got worse and continued to be bad under his supervision. Now, was he a poor coach or was the talent simply so poor no one could correct it? I'm hoping the talent is there already for our two Tackles and a modern Kromer can fix it.
Or...they could both suck.
It might well have been inj's that have hampered Carimi; but again just b/c one is great in college, even in top programs, doesn't guarantee good to great NFL play.
I think the jjury is out on him.
I am far more worried about find a good guard and replacing Garza with someone younger that can get the job done.
