He is not a huge upgrade over Webb but he is a huge upgrade at RT where Webb will be going.
2012
LT: Webb 6/10
RT: Carimi/Scott 3/10
2013
LT: Bushrod 7/10
RT: Webb 7/10
We need a new OT either at LT or RT we need someone.
I am not pounding the table for Bushord but he is in our price range.
Another option is sign Gosder Cherilus and his knee issues and play him at RT and Webb at LT.
What cheap OT options do people want?

We need an upgrade at one OT and the reason I have chosen Bushrod is the following,
1. Cost, yes Vollmer and Albert are MUCH better but they will likely be twice as expensive. Once Melton is franchised we will not have a ton of money and we need a cheap upgrade not over Webb but over Carimi/Scott.
2. Kromer knows him well, which reduces the risk. He know his work habits, how he fits in a locker room and most importantly his injury history.
3. He can play multiple positions. I think he can play LT and allow Webb to play RT, I think he can play RT and if we draft a LT I think he can play LG. He is a versatile player.
4. He is healthy and has not missed time or had significant injury.
The list of cheaper starting caliber OTs is small and Bushrod has some positives.

I like most of your mock but a few things I'd disagree with:
- I don't want Bushrod. People say Webb is bad and he was this year, but Bushrod is no better. Actually, on Pro Football Focus, they're rated about the same. Bushrod might be a slight upgrade but we can't afford the loss of cap space for such a marginal upgrade.
- I don't want to resign Scott but I realize at this point we may not have much of a choice.
- I don't really want Fluker in the first round. I would much prefer to get Cooper if possible. I'd also like to get Barrett Jones in the second. I think if you're going to resign Urlacher for two years, picking up a MLB in the second this year might be kinda redundant. Might wanna wait til next year for that.
I just hate the idea of drafting someone who plays RT now and moving him to LG. The O-line can't be treated like a game of musical chairs like we've done for so long. We can't be moving people around because playing RT is a hell of a lot different than playing LG. We need to draft someone who plays that position and keep him there, like Cooper.
Also, has anyone seen WalterFootball's latest mock draft? He has us picking Tavon Austin, a WR, in the first round, with Fluker and Ogletree still on the board at that point. Lol

I agree with the Hayden part he wasn't that good. As critical as I've been of bowman in the past I would rather have him at a minimum contract.
also isn't that big dollars for Louis? Should he come at a one year minimum this year to prove the effects of his injury? Why invest big in an injured player

Don't think of Bushrod as an upgrade over Webb.
Think of him as an upgrade over Carimi/Scott, where he is a significant upgrade.

that'd be a hell of an offseason. Almost perfect. Would want to change Greene to Minter or Te'o but other than that its perfect.

Bushrod isn't the type of LT I want to spend a lot of our precious little cap space on.
Regarding Webb's help, this is exactly what happened. Webb played decently at LT, especially as the season progressed. He was often on an island, against some of the best pass rushers in the NFL. He wasn't great. But he wasn't the bum people want to think he was. I think folks are just remembering how BAD he was in previous seasons, and assumed he didn't improve. Not so. That is why scouts have rated him higher after last season. Even over Bushrod (I think Scout Inc. had him slightly higher than Bushrod).
Carimi, on the other hand, shouldn't have been playing (certainly not starting at tackle) until he was better, physically, from his injury.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Don't read to much into this; I'm not, but I did find it interesting.
ESPN Chciago radio said a nfl insider will be on next and that Urlacher will retire if he doesn't resign. That will completely change what and how the team goes about the offseason.
I don't buy this b/c I think w/another 2 years of playing he might well show statistically that he was every bit the MLB(in his system) that Ray Ray was. But if he does it's going to be hard for the team not to address this asap.

The one thing that you fail to take into account is the fact that players with longer arms typically do not do as well in the bench press and Fluker has VERY LONG arms hence the difference in the # of reps put up.

Glad you're back Windy and I always enjoy your mocks even when they aren't my "dream scenario". Thanks for putting so much effort into it.
I agree with your re-signs and cuts and (possible) re-structurings/extensions. Hester and Davis should be goners IMO. Lach, Louis, Roach, and Melton need to stay. I'm plus/minus on Hayden, Bowman, Hayes, Izzy, etc.
I'd rather get Cooper in the 1st but I know he may not make it to 20. LG in the first I agree. In the second, I'd look at an OC or a LB based on who's bpa. You're right that we definitely need a speedy slot WR/possible KR guy in the 4th - 5th and possibly a TE prospect too.
I understand your reasoning on Bushrod but I guess I have more faith than you do on Carimi coming back strong next year.
