It's the charge reported about the controlled substance that was in question. Again, a legit concern if the dude was running around with freaking cocaine in his car. If you can't understand that, then you are more of a Webb slurper than I thought.
What's condescending about what I posted? Jesus Christ there are over 70 posts in this thread many of which got it wrong as did at least one radio report and all because of a rush to judgement. Read what I posted to 99. When the article was written I believed the punctuation was wrong and I said that right after it was posted.
Read this with and without the semi colon after the words "controlled substance" and it's misleading. The first way lists it as three separate items but the second uses a semi colon to separate the actual charge, which I believe was "possession of a controlled substance", from the "substances" themselves and that's the way I read it.
(without) Webb is charged with possession of controlled substance, cannabis and paraphernalia.

You've got posters who were talking about the need to sign a FA LT, draft a LT, cut his ass, etc. etc. etc. and yet nobody even had a clue as to what the real story was except the initial info which proved to be somewhat inaccurate. So there was a lot of over reaction to it. Don't say everyone knew it was nothing you'd cut a guy for. There a more than just one or two who say just that.
My post commented on those over reactions. That's not at all condescending. It's just poking a little fun at my fellow Bears fans for their "the sky is falling" behavior. I wasn't one of those saying we should dust him. I was saying it was no big deal and it wasn't.
Now you want to me to show you what condescending is? It's all of you who want to bring out a lynch mob to hang players over offenses your fucking neighbors, family members, friends and co-workers are guilty of every day of the year yet for some odd reason these guys who play football should be stripped of their rights and livelihood before they've even be convicted of a crime. I think Jimmors and I had that one out over Ogletree the other day and again to day another bunch wanted Webb crucified over charges that were dismissed before 24 hours had passed. NOW THAT'S CONDESCENSION CHI!
What I did was a little harmless lampooning of my friends. I'm not acting as judge and jury of a guy just because he's a football player. That up to the courts to do. Webb and Ogletree may both be careless and stupid but they're a long way from being hardened criminals. If we jailed people just for being dumb I'd have spent the last ten years in prison for some of my own stupidity.
So if you believe I was being a dick well that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But that doesn't mean I have to wear that mantle just because you think I should.

For me it was all about the oline consequences. If the initial report had been accurate, a felony, then the consequences could have hurt the team (I'm not worried about Webb). It's all about the team for me. I am 100% a "Chicken Little" when it comes to the Bears finally getting the oline fixed.
That's just "me" and I think all you guys know that by now.
Webb isn't much as far as a being a great player, but he's about all we have going for us at LT now. We can HOPE Carimi pans out (I'm hoping he does), and Louis may come back 100% from the surgery (again, we all hope he does)........but other than that we don't have a lot going for us right now, and there's only so much that Emery can fix in ONE season. He's like a one-armed wallpaper hanger already.
So, if Webb had been in felony trouble, (the controlled substance charge in addition to the pot charge), and that is exactly what was originally reported from multiple sources, then this was a bigger deal. Hey, shoot me for being worried. I care about this upcoming season. It's a "big deal" to me.
..........................
Regarding the confusion over the charges, I looked up Pulaski County. It's an itty-bitty county in Illinois. The population of the entire county is 7000 people. Their county seat, is only 600 people. It's like Mayberry size with Deputy Barney Fife. Who knows how screwed up the arrest was.
On a side note, it was reported that this was Webb's 3rd speeding ticket down there in the past few years. So he must blow through that county pretty fast - and get caught.

JABF, yep this has nothing to do w/anyones personal feelings on the subject only about how it effects the team. And there was reason to believe(b/c of the original report) that it could greatly effect the team.

The part I found funny was he was pulled over for going 11 M.P.H. REALLY. Anyone drive around Chicago on the Expressways? 20- 25 M.P.H.over the limit isnt a stretch.
The passion of a few, to rule the many, that's Washington D.C.. Where else was that said before, about whom?

This is Webb here. The oregano fell off his Pizza Hut large pan pizza. Word is Webb was driving with the pizza in the passenger seat, lid open, telling it, "Oh, you're gonna get it when we get home!"

I have two speeding tickets in Wisconsin. 57 and 58 in a 55. The 57 I was in a college van driving students and teachers on a field trip. Some cops can be real pinheads. On the other hand, I drive Chicago expressways every day. Just the other day I had a guy pass me on the right shoulder going at least 90. The four lanes to my left weren't good enough for him. Where were the cops then?
Regarding Webb, it's not about the pot. Or the speeding. Or even the combination. It's his overall attitude, and this is just one more instance. Pot is illegal. So is speeding. He had tickets before in that county. Why is he speeding again, with pot? He signed a contract that says he agrees to keep his nose clean. He can't do it. Or won't. Either way, this is just another indication of his immaturity and his disregard for his teammates. He has no work ethic, no drive to improve - either his play or his character. That is what bothers me. His attitude hurts the team. On the field and off. A line has to be drawn. In my mind, he just crossed that line.
