"Webb's Arrest Is Trestman's First Test"
Fwiw.

Webb's arrest is Trestman's first test
Marc Trestman has been on the job in Chicago for roughly six weeks, and thanks to a drug charge on J'Marcus Webb, the honeymoon is over. The new coach has to deal with an arrest of a starter, and how he handles it will be his first big test.
The bears are moving slowly and smartly before commenting on webb's arrest. Their statement basically said they are looking into the arrest, and nothing more. Since this is webb's first offense, the league won't likely be too harsh on webb.
But as the bears and league investigate just what happened down in southern Illinois, Trestman has to figure out how he will react. Lovie smith was so liked and respected by his players in part because he wasn't a disciplinarian. He expected his players to act right, and for the most part, they did. This is trestman's first chance to show how he'll treat his players.
It's unlikely that Webb will be cut for his transgression. Again, it's his first offense and he has steadily improved as a member of the bears line. But in the locker room and in his first meetings with the players, Trestman will get to show what kind of coach he is.

Even though it was just an arrest and the charges were dropped, as head coach, Trestman will have to address this at some level. Webb is the starting LT for the Chicago Bears, so it's not just J'Marcus who is affected by this.
Trestman is new, so he will set a tone here for expectations of players off the field. It sounds like Webb's job is safe, but that isn't the same as saying nothing will be said to the guy.

I think this should fall more on Emery than Trestman.

Unless its a criminal charge (in which case the NFL will trump the GM), player misconduct and punishments are typically handled by the HC, not the GM.
I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

In fairness, they dropped the charges....so he may be completely innocent. But this should wakeup call for him to be careful because NFL careers can end abruptly for mistakes made off the field.

Trestman will never yell at a player or say anything in front of the group it is not his style he is a teacher and a father figure.

They may have dropped the charges, but it's obvious that he is high in that picture.

My guess is he will spoken with behind closed doors with Trestman and possibly Emery.

Agree.
No way in hell he gets away clean after the McCaskey's see "drug charges" and "Chicago Bears" in the same sentence plastered on the Tribune and Sun Times. Steam is probably still pouring from Virginia's ears regardless of the charges being dropped.
