Pretty much as expected Will Beatty and the Giants reached and agreement on a new deal. I pretty much knew they'd never let him even sniff FA. This should give us a pretty good idea of what other FA LTs will be looking for money wise as well and it's squarely in that $7.5 - $8.0 mil range I predicted.

Don't look for Albert or Bushrod to be looking for or willing to settle for less and Long is looking for around $10 mil. Our best hope other than Webb is that no one signs Long and he takes a one year deal for short money to prove he still got the skills of a top LT but I wouldn't count on this either.

Hell just spend a pick on a good LT prospect and let Kromer go to work on him. They only way we're ever gonna solve our problem there is to do it ourselves. No one lets a good LT go.


Free agency offers a handful of options but one was taken off the market Wednesday when the Giants re-signed Will Beatty to a $38.5 million, five-year contract with $19 million fully guaranteed. The Bears could consider other players, such as Jermon Bushrod, but he could re-sign with the Saints and general manager Phil Emery has a snug salary-cap situation.
