Brad Biggs: "More and more folks are matching #Bears with TE Tyler Eifert"

If one thing is consistent since combine ended, it’s that more and more folks are matching #Bears with Tyler Eifert In scanning a collection of mock drafts completed by the folks at CBS Sports since the combine was completed, Eifert’s name pops up consistently. The Notre Dame tight end had a strong showing in Indianapolis and is the consensus top player available at the position. Many believe he will be available when the Bears go on the clock with the 20th pick in the first round.
Rob Rang – DT Sheldon Richardson, Missouri
Dane Brugler – TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame
Pete Prisco – TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame
Clark Judge – TE Tyler Eifert, Notre Dame
So, Rang is the second person we have found that has given the Bears a defensive tackle in the first round. What would be interesting is if offensive linemen like North Carolina G Jonathan Cooper and Alabama RT D.J. Fluker are on the board when the Bears go on the clock.

Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Crippling need at TE, best TE in the draft, I do not think it is a huge stretch to think that the Bears would pick Eifert if they sign some free agent OLmen.

Eifert is a stud, and a go up and get it guy. Only reason the go Sheldon R. is if Melton is let go; and even then I'm not sure they go DT in round 1.

That would be interesting, and (after soul convinced me) I would do a face palm if we passed on Cooper, but I would take Eifert over Fluker all day.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

Jeez...thanks JA. You draft G-reg, then dump him, now we might draft a kid who is just like him anyway.
I'm trying//to let go//of maybe//but maybe's just so//very interesting//Oh, what a thing.

Hope Eifert can break more then 1 tackle from a S before he goes down if we do get him. Olsen was softer then icecream on a texas summer day.

Is Eifert worth a 20 pick? Not saying no, just asking if he is.
If our OL guys are off the board beforehand, I'd rather try to trade down and nab a 3rd. Unless we make an OL move (and no TE move) in FA, I don't see Eifert as being worth that pick to us. IMO, between FA and the first two rounds of the draft, we need two quality OLs.

I just don't understand drafting a TE at 20. How many teams would trade a first round pick for a proven tight end? How many would trade a first round for a proven T or G? If we traded down I would not be opposed to taking Eifert, but I do not believe a TE should be picked as high as 20.

inch, no one in their right mind would give you a 1st for a G or C, maybe a T, but doubtfull.

It depends on how good they are. There was fear among many Jets fans (myself especially), that the Jets' trade up in the draft (14th overall) was going to be spent on him, but I'm in that weird Jets/Bears minority fanbase that was stoked when the Bears got him at 32(that's NOT a typo). Conversely, Vernon Davis was the 6th pick in 2006, because he's a freak. It just depends on how good they were, because a great TE (step above Jason Witten level) is certainly worth a first round pick anywhere near where we're picking.
