I would only say delusional if he's on the market for more than a week or two, and there's not a race to get him.

Long is a player I'd love to sign. If he goes down, we will have Webb to take his spot while Carimi or Scott play as RT.
Health is a problem but he looks to be healthy
@SI_PeterKing: RT @PriscoCBS: Demise of Jake Long has been greatly exaggerated. He isn't as good as his rep, but still pretty good ...I think Pete's right.

Here is the deal I offer Jake Long if he takes it great if not I move on.
5 years 45 million/22 guaranteed/12 signing bonus
Year 1: 4 million salary/2.4 million signing bonus [6.4]
Year 2: 3 million salary/2.4 million signing bonus/3 million roster bonus [8.4]
Year 3: 4 million salary/2.4 million signing bonus/3 million roster bonus [9.4]
Year 4: 4 million salary/2.4 million signing bonus/3 million roster bonus [9.4]
Year 5: 8 million salary/2.4 million signing bonus/1 million roster bonus [11.4]
*I use roster bonuses to make up a sizable portion of the guarantees as they protect us against his injuring himself. If he injures himself we can move on and recoup everything except for the signing bonus and money already paid.
If he stays healthy he cashes a 3 million dollar guaranteed check every March 3rd.
*We also can cut him in year 4 with only 2.4 in dead money or restructure the deal as their is a ton of no guaranteed space.
I would crap if we wasted money on Long at this point in his career. There are better options available who can actually, you know, HELP us at LT.
Just because a guy is a "big name" doesn't make him a good option (like Orlando Pace wasn't so hot for us either). Fans LOVE big name guys they recognize from past heydays. This guy wants $10 million dollars a year. He grades out about like Frank Omiyale right now (Frank is a backup for Seattle).
Do we really want to blow bigtime money on Long? I'd stroke out.

Why does Emery want Scott and his -8.1 back, I thought he used PFF?
According to Profootballtalk.com, there is "little or no chatter in league circles" about any team making a major push for free agent LT Jake Long.
"Some" NFL teams reportedly believe Long needs to play right tackle instead of left, which would severely diminish his market value. Long is also coming off back-to-back disappointing seasons. Our gut feeling all along has been that Long will wind up re-signing with the Dolphins on a deal worth significantly less than he's seeking. His current asking price is a laughable $11 million a year.
