yes, he is asking for too much. His price will come down once he sees no team will offer him that much... but he will still get around 7-8 million a year. A Team desperate enough will pay him

I agree, $11 million is way too much, but 7-8 mil would be great. Btw, the Bears ARE desperate. I know that Long has been hurt a lot over the past two seasons but I think people are overreacting. When healthy he's a Top 3 LT and would be a huge upgrade over Webb. Don't quite understand why so many guys are gainst him.
If the price is right (7-8 million each year) I'd take Long over Albert, Bushrod or any other FA LT any day.

OL with Long on it and Webb as RT looks 100 times better than what we have had last season

I'm not "for" or "against" him. I just want the Bears to avoid another Orlando Pace experience. Long doesn't play well anymore. Period.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

Long will hit free agency. Bears could really look at him.

GBPH, I'm inclined to think they will look at the LT market first and see what develops with Albert.

Our gut feeling all along has been that Long will wind up re-signing with the Dolphins on a deal worth significantly less than he's seeking. His current asking price is a laughable $11 million a year.
My guess he will be lucky to get $5-6 Million a year.

I gotta disagree with you here. It's way too early to start comparing him to Pace. Pace was 34 when he signed with the Bears and already was at the end of his career. Jake Long will turn 28 in May. Long has faced a couple of injuries over the past two seasons but he is still a really good tackle. When healthy is a Top 3 LT, right now I'd say he's a Top 10. Webb is nowhere near the Top 10. $11 million each season is too much, I agree. But 7-8, even 9 million would be okay imo.
I'm tired of people being afraid of spending big bucks on players. Not saying I WANT us to sign Long, I'm just saying we should do whatever it takes to protect Cutler and Webb clearly isn't the answer. JA didn't do shit to protect him and Emery hasn't done anything yet.
Sometimes you have to spend money to make money! Period.

As much as I don't think we will make a big move like Long.
He may be the only one with an open dance card.
I would be excited no matter what, but I would be really excited if it was for a reasonable amount if money.

WC, I have my reservations with Long and have focused on trying to imagine what the OLine would look like with a Tier I LG and one of the 3 top LT's. That scenario to me is more realistic and than going after Long.
I am 100% and confident that Emery has a master plan with hundreds of variations as the scenarios unfold and things change. I will just be extremely frustrated if he does not address the Oline like many others have said.
