I hope so. I'm really hoping that he surprises everyone with his health next year.
Brian Urlacher has too much pride in himself and his play not to return in as good of playing condition as he can. His age and his knee will slow him down some but he can still be a force in the defense and he's also it's heart and soul and leader.
It's all about the money in a year when we don't have any to spare so what's the difference between too much from the Bears perspective and too little from his. Will $3 mil for one year get it done or do we need to do a two year deal to get a more favorable cap situation for this year? It almost has to be somewhere in that range.
I think it's pretty certain that he and Izzy will be back on terms we can afford but with Roach I'm not as certain. He's an experienced and valuable player in this defense and also our backup MLB right now so there has to be some inter-relationship going on between his deal and Urlacher's and my concern is can we afford both?

I bet roach will be back before Urlacher will mainly because he can play mlb/slb and will be cheap.
Izzy is no sure bet to be back. He's going to get a bigger payday this year an d a multi year deal from some team.
He's been great the last few years but he is a rotational albeit versatile player and his money should be spent on a UFA OL.
Jay Cutler – Jason Campbell – Josh McCown
The play of Cutler in the 7-1 start was the stuff of “franchise.” His play in the 2-4 finish was the stuff of doubt and little was indisputably clear with Cutler at the end of a second straight year of collective disappointment.
Cutler was sacked a total of 28 times over those first eight games (3.5 per game). Over the final six (leaving out the Houston and San Francisco games because of his concussion), he was sacked at less than half that rate, 1.7 per game, 10 total. Pro Football Focus placed Cutler fourth in the NFL (behind Michael Vick, Russell Wilson and Matthew Stafford) in time holding the ball from snap to sack.
Possibly concerning, Cutler’s completion percentage was below 59 percent for the second straight year, something which never happened in his first five years, and his passer rating (81.3) was the second-lowest of his career, behind only his first Chicago season.
The reasons lay in the completion percentage and also interception rate. No team reached the playoffs behind a quarterback with an interception percentage above 3.0 (Andy Dalton, Cincinnati). Cutler’s was 3.2.
Cutler rated a positive overall grade from Pro Football Focus, 14th in PFF’s combined quarterback rating which factors in drops, throwaways and other elements.
This despite the addition of passing soulmate Brandon Marshall and handpicked position coach Jeremy Bates.
The depth chart was filled out with veterans in Campbell and McCown. Campbell was the victim of a complete protection collapse at San Francisco and McCown was added after Cutler suffered a concussion vs. Houston. Neither vet moved toward a 2013 starting job and are likely options for the Bears moving forward, as is Matt Blanchard, who spent most of the season on the practice squad.

fine, he can return with a cap friendly deal. If he is that focused on returning and playing for the Bears, take a big big paycut to help the Bears even more
Production aside Mincey was 28 years old and a 4 year vet in his prime. Izzy will be 33 in November and he's a 9 year vet in the twilight of his career. That's a huge difference luke.
If you were the Bears GM would you give a 3yr/$15 mil deal with guarantees to a 33 DLineman. If Pep walked in the door right now looking for work I doubt anyone would even give him that kind of a deal and Izzy isn't at the same level as Pep.
To me he's surely worth the $2.5 mil we paid him last year the only question is can we give him that much again and will he want more or take even less if that's what's offered. To be fair I think on a one year deal it has to be somewhere in the $2-$3 mil range and I don't believe they'll go more than a year with Wootton coming on the way he has.
Izzy's a "hometown discount" kind of guy. The Bears gave him his shot and have stuck with him his entire career. I believe he'd like to finish in Chicago and I believe he will.

He's actually 32 until mid November and a very healthy and not beatup one at that. I dont think its a stretch that a team offers him a 2/3 deal after averaging 7 sacks over the last 3 years. Thats not going to break anyones bank who has cap space and needs help on the DL. You can bring up that he played on pepps line but teams consistently overlook that like JA did with Ogun. Whatever the case, the more I think about it, the more I think they should spend his 3mil cap hit on an young mid tier OG ike Schwartz. Now you might not like him because he doesnt have prototypical OG size, but he consistently grades out good to very good at least from last year and when he started a couple years back. The guy is a young vet who could be signed at a value price and immediately plug in at LG. When I look at the draft, I wonder if the Bears will even see warmack, cooper or fluker for that matter at 20. That leaves us with our current roster to fill that hole and I personally dont want to see that. back to Izzy, he has been a valuable rotaional guy who can do a lot of things but in the end, he s/b the 4th guy in the DE mix this year. This is where Emery needs to reallocate his money to the OL and draft/sign another rotaional guy.
