You're right. I forgot about Clausen. Projected to be a top 10 pick. In 3 years in the NFL he has thrown a grand total of 3 touchdowns (and 9 picks).

There's probably close to 50 guys from ND who have been over hyped as golden domers, only to have disappointing careers in the NFL. Every school has draft busts. But I see a common theme with ND athletes, in that they get WAY too much media-darling attention. They then get blown up as bigger than life "can't miss" draft picks. And then they disappoint.

I get so tired of folks saying these ND guys are "can't miss" when I've heard that term for over 50 years with ND overhyped athletes.

I wish Te'o the best. I hope he has a great career. I do believe he's not a great choice to spend our 1st draft pick on. We can do better.

JABF99, I just posted in the other thread an idea about going after Albert from KC and trading up to get into the 11-13 range to have a shot at Lane Johnson.

JABF, you also forgot Michael Floyd. He was the top-rated WR for many analysts coming into the draft and had a disappointing season with just 45 receptions for 562 yards and 2 TDs.

Yea Little but which team did he end up on ? Which team ? The fact that he had 562 yards with those QB's was a feat unto itself.

It's time to drop the Te'o at 20, or anywhere in the first idea

Mid 2nd round talent, and even then I would cringe if we took him at 50

A typical overrated, media hyped, ND player

He got worked over in the BCS game against real nfl talent

He skipped the sr bowl..

And he has pedistrian combine numbers

We took Briggs in the third round. All we need is a slick coaching staff to take a LB in the fourth round that is like Briggs.

To me this is like the "why draft a OL high...we can get good ones later" argument. It's like that at any positions

Sometimes top guys bust
Sometimes late guys bloom

Your just more likely to get a good player higher

With that said..I agree Jackie, lets take a LB later on and if they show promises maybe next years crop will be better

you want to say that the chance to get a good QB or LB or LT or DE later in the Draft is as good as getting a good WR, OC, OG or TE later in the draft?
