Jared Cook not to be tagged
The Nashville Tennessean reports the Titans have reached an "impasse" with free agent Jared Cook over their franchise-tag dispute, and it's "safe to say" they will not reach a long-term deal on Monday.
That means Cook will hit the open market. The fact that the Titans aren't willing to tag Cook as a tight end suggests they believe Cook would have won the argument that he should be considered a receiver. That would have far-reaching implications for future free agent tight ends. Watching Cook walk would be bad news for a team that needs to surround Jake Locker with as much talent as possible, but a potential boon for Cook's fantasy value. He's been criminally underused throughout his four years in Tennessee.

Theo Epstien said you want to pay for what a player is going to do not for what they have done in the past.
Cook is on the border of really breaking out.

He's currently #2 on my TE wishlist.
1. Bennett
2. Cook
3. Keller
Bears should keep an eye on him.

He is #1 for me just because Bennett is such a weirdo.
The nice part about TE is because of positional value the contract is going to be significantly smaller than OT.
The Bears could sign the best TE on the market [Cook] for 5-6 million instead of paying the best OT [Albert] 10 million. TE might be the best use of the Bears limited free agent resources.

This may be the way to go if some FA deal for a o-lineman can't be had. Could then pick up a TE in later draft rounds if need be and TE would be a position of strength.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

I'm pretty excited to see what Brody Eldridge can do as blocking tight end. Hope he'll stick around.
Having a pass-catching TE (Cook) and a blocking TE is a nice idea imo.

Having one that can do both is even better and cheaper.
The passion of a few, to rule the many, that's Washington D.C.. Where else was that said before, about whom?

If Emery has given up on finding a LT I would sign this guy right away. Ofcause not to overprice but I can see the dots between him and Greg Olsen. Olsen had a great season once he was used corretly I thinking this might be the case with Cook aswell. We would go from Kellen "No hands" Davis till Cook, I would rather have that than Webb to Bushrod.

Cook will get too much money. Rather go straight at Walker and Keller to show him I really want you and nobody else

If Cook can be had for cheap I'd certaintly make an attempt to sign him.
