What's disappointing to me is the fact that we invest in high quality dline personnel. But our oline is on the cheap. And it shows.
If we ever hope to improve the oline, then the Chicago Bears needs to pump serious resources into it - like they do for the dline. All the Bears do is "talk the talk" but they never follow through with action. The OL is the poor stepchild in Chicago.
Let's see if Emery is going to change anything in Chicago, or just "talk the talk" here.

What Angelo let happen to yhe oL on his watch was criminal.
The stink of Angelo will take a few years and some good draft picks to wash off.

Windy, that's the best post of the day. I'm coming to the exact same conclusion. I know a lot of folks here think everything is going to get fixed this year, including the offensive line woes. But connect the dots here. It ain't gonna happen in one year. Heck, this is year 2 for Emery, and we're still in a hole with the OL.
They'll throw us a bone in the draft. The oline will still suck. Life will go on in Chicago. It's the home of the Bears and the Cubs. Nuff said...

Emery did not do anything about the OLine last year... if he does that this year again I really start to doubt him.
We fired a 10-6 coach because the Offense was bad and as of now we invest in the Defense. Drafting OL at #20 and TE at #50 is not enough. We need to build a good team and offense any way possible. That's draft, trade and Free Agency. He already did trade for Marshall and drafted a WR early. We need to fix the offense asap and that won't happen with 2 early round picks. The time of our good D is wasting away right now. Those guys won't be on that great level for long.

Yup there goes our FA LT. I'm don't think we are gonna get Bushrod or Long. It sucks monkey balls, but hey now that Webb will spend time with Richmond Webb and not his Webb Nation he might actually turn into a solid LT for us for years to come... We might still have a chance with Bushrod and Kromer but I somehow doubt it.

why do you think we won't get Bushrod or Long while thinking we would get Albert?

No kidding! I think Emery knows he needs to fix it NOW and I am sure Trestman will make sure he does it.

We can only hope that Webb improves.
On a semi-related note I think Jockel goes to either Detroit or possibly Oakland with San Diego as a outside possibility.

I posted in another couple of threads an idea that does have some sense to it. Basically I said what Emery could do IMHO is:
1. Restructure/Cut certain contracts to give us at least 8-10 million in CAP space (I won't try to get into the candidates because that has been discussed enough).
2. Go after Levitre as the number one priority to anchor the left side as guard.
3. Trade this year's first and next year's second to try and get into the 11-13 range and have a shot at Lane Johnson.
This frees up Webb to shift to the right side and leaves Carimi as the swing tackle.
I think that gives us a solid 3/5ths of a line for a few years and we can draft a center in the lower rounds.

Because I think he wouldn't demand such a high salary as the other two.

then your thoughts were wrong ;-)
Albert would have been the best LT available. He would have been the guy that makes the most money. Bushrod will come cheaper and Long asks for the moon and will sattle in for a reasonable price
