A 33-year old Guard?! Way to go, Phil!
Jeez, what a joke.

yes, it sounds like a stopgap JA fix but BU is 35 and izzy is almost 33.
I'd like to see some money spent on new starters who are sub 30!

Healthy, productive, but just a little old.
He is not a Pace, because he was actually still really good last year.

Age aside he is a very good starting OG, ranked top 5, for a reasonable price.

We could use one like that.
I've said all along that I would not use our first round pick on a TE. There are too many great OLine prospects who I'm 90% certain will still be on the board when the #20 pick rolls around. We need to start building that line through the draft and this a a perfect opportunity to do it. The caliber of first round lineman is very high whereas the top TE's are very good but neither is that "special" player.
I dont know soul, I'm 90% certain that cooper/warmack wont be there and only 50% certain fluker will be there. Ol and TE are the two most important upgrades for sure and I would try to wisely allocate a substantial amount of the cap money towards those two positions. OL is a must, I don't want to hope that fluker is still there at 20 for my only immediate OL upgrade, and even then he is a rookie RT. Now maybe Kromer is all that and more, and he can quickly mold this band of misfits into a competent bunch within the new wco I dont know. All I know is I would like a competent veteran precense somewhere on that line if I were him.

The Chicago Sun Times reports that the Bears are expected to be involved in the bidding for free agent OG Andy Levitre.
Levitre, 27 in May, has now been linked to Chicago and Tennessee, with Detroit also floated as a less likely suitor. He'd be a great addition to a Bears line that has experienced interior woes several seasons running. Bears GM Phil Emery may target Levitre first, and treat Brandon Moore as a fallback option.

I'd rather not get in a bidding war over a guard when this offseason is flush with quality there in both FA and the draft. I'd rather go all-out for Long than give Levitre even half of the ludicrous deal Nicks just got averaging $9+M per.
