With all that being said I doubt we get Levitre, not when teams like the Colts have 35 million in cap space.
But he would solve the LG position for the next 5 years and that would be exciting.

Moore
Foster
And a TE (Cook/Bennett)
That would make me very happy and would allow the Bears to draft OT and to allow Louis to recover fully.
And here is a crazy idea we could have Louis snap the ball while he is recovering just in case he can replace Garza at some point.

We have had no problem in the past when real money was invested in our biggest weakness DE (Peppers) and WR (Marshall) and the OL should be no different.
We have tried the bargain basement approach (Rachal), the aging and cheaper (Pace) the 1st round reclamation project (Spencer) and the young developing guy (Omiyale) and they have all failed.
Based on this recent track record of failure and where it has left the line, I would not fault Emery for wanting a sure thing Pro Bowl player on the OL and for paying for it.

There's a ton of DTs and DEs that will come into play before OGs or a RT only guy like Fluker.
Those three guys should be at the top of our board right now and I'll bet you $10,000 Bears Bucks right now that at least one of them will be there at #20 and most likely two, Fluker and Cooper. Warmack is the only one I think may go before #20. If we can sign a FA OG like Moore maybe they take Fluker as a hedge against Carimi not turning his game around this year although I firmly believe he will.
My guy is and always has been Cooper. If we signed Moore to play RG next to Carimi we'd have two great run blockers there and I think playing next to a vet like that would help his pass blocking as well. We draft Cooper for LG and let Louis compete there if he can make the transition and we may also have the option to try Cooper at OC as a potential replacement for Garza. I like that bunch on the inside far better than I do anything we had last year.
I still believe we have bigger problems inside than outside because a lot of the pressure we saw last year came up the gut. Webb was still inconsistent but he did improve and I don't think there's anyway that once he's back in playing shape again that Carimi won't improve dramatically as well. The kid can be a very good RT.
Quite frankly soul, any site which ranks Nassib as their #1 prospect I dont pay attention to and it appears that their mock is just as far off base as their rankings. Here are other recent mocks which 100% show that warmac/cooper will be long gone by 20 and some where fluker is gone as well.
I see a lot of 8, 10, 16, 18s selecting them too.
walter football - 9 cooper, 16 warmac, 18, fluker
NFL.com Davis - 8 warmac, 10 cooper, 18 fluker
NFL.com Brooks - 8 warmac, 10 cooper, 21 fuker
Nfl.com Jeremiah - 10 cooper, 16 warmack
NFL.com Brandt - 10 warmac, 13 fluker, 18 cooper
GBN - 10 warmac, 16 cooper
NFLdrafttek - 16 warmac, 18 cooper
Bob Legere - 7 warmac, 11 cooper, 20 fluker

All Mock Drafts right now are useless and that is the King of mock drafts saying that.
But I don't think the interior OLmen in the draft have any impact on Levitre's value to us. Our interior OL is so bad we could add Levitre and a 1st round player and no one would bat an eye,
LG: Levitre
C: Garza
RG: Warmack
LG: Levitre
C: Cooper
RG: Louis
LG: Levitre
C: Garza
RG: Louis
RT: Fluker
All of those are great options that increase our talent level 10x in a position that has crippled us since 2006.

You'd need to lessen the SB and put in a series of annual bonuses and guarantees that within another year or two would have his cap cost over $10 mil per year. No thank you! I'd rather have Brandon Moore for the next two years for $8 mil total and be done with it.
And you'd let two core defensive players and and you're top return man go just to get this one guy who's not gonna score one point for you, make one tackle, or get one sack? Nonsense. One guy cannot dominate on an offensive line. To make it work you need five good guys up there not one great guy and four average ones. Back to GM #101 for you, LOL.
You didnt see my initial post did you soul? Thats where I used the Ben Grubbs signing as the basis for the Levitre contract. He recieved a 5/36 with 10mil sb and 16 guarantees, so now redo your math. So yes, he can fit in at 2.7mil this year and all you have to do is let go of just 1 in Hester, davis, izzy, and BU wants twice that. So no soul, im currently in GM 102 at the local JC pulling a solid C! For someone who keeps quoting that the bears have super bowl aspirations (realistically, its playoff aspirations) any GM would glady part ways with their over the hill return man, pitiful TE or rotational 33 year old DL and replace him with a 26 year old pro bowl caliber RG which btw, is a huge hole on their team. Off to school you go now! :)

wow, looking at the list of players we want to add, expectations get up higher again.
Levitre would be a dream

Windy I have to disagree, I think Carimi and Scott will do ok at RT, and yes we need LG but we need to replace Garza more then we need to address RT. Being able to open up the middle for our RBs will take alot of pressure of Cutler while keep the Defenses pass rushing in check.

As long as the 2 positions get fixed I am okay with it.
But Levitre and Vollmer are going to cost about the same and they are both elite players at a position of need. I would not be upset if they signed either of them.
The options we are debating are elite or average,
Option 1
Sign Levitre and draft an OT to compete with Carimi/Scott
Option 2
Sign Brandon Moore and Gosder Cherilus and draft TE/LB
