He has a high enough profile for it. The Bears may even be able to find something for him within the organization.
That said I don't think that money should be no issue but I don't think he's hurting for financial security. If all it came down to was a mil between playing in Chicago and finishing in Chicago and playing elsewhere I hope he'd decide to stay put. His legacy will be worth all that much more in Chicago if he does vs playing out his career elsewhere. This is a city who didn't forgive Bobby Hull for decades, LOL.
It seem to me that Bears fans, elephants and my ex-wife have the longest memories in the animal or humankind.

Oh I don't think that Urlacher will be broke after his playing career. His earning potential will just dip from millions of dollars a year to thousands of dollars a year. Like I said, a smart businessperson would weigh all of the options and ultimately take the money. If the difference is a hundred thousand dollars then I can see a player saying to himself that sacrificing a hundred thousand dollars is worth it to not have to move my family and have my kids start at a new school. However, a million dollars is something way more significant... like 10 times more significant. That significance certainly warrants a second thought for sure.
And as far as how Chicago feels about it, I believe that Urlacher's comments about the fans speak for themselves. I'm thinking he will lose no sleep whatsoever leaving Chicago and chasing the money in an organization that is willing to pay him what he believes himself to be worth.
That said... It would be WAY weird for Urlacher to don another team's jersey after so many years draped in blue and orange.

I'm not optimistic. I think Brian's days in Chicago are over. He hates the fans because we have the audacity to boo, and he's upset with Emery for firing Lovie. He's not the player he used to be, and although I've seen his recent tape doing hand stands, that doesn't tell me his knees are any good. I think he'll go to dallas for a year, or two if he has enough left in the tank. He'll come back at some point and sign a 1-day contract to retire as a Bear.

He only comes back at emery's price on a 1 yearl deal because he has ZERO market value. He wanted 2 years 10mil which is laughable and phil probably is offereing 1 year at 2mil. I wonder if his ego will let him play for the paltry amount which the bears think he is worth.
